E55 AMG
Just bought my first Merc.
Hi guys, wondered if you could help?
Just got a 1998 E55 AMG and been looking for some information about the interior. The seller said it was a special AMG order and tried searching for info but nothing has come up so far.
The seats are red leather (single tone) which goes with the Brilliant Silver exterior. All the pictures I've seen that include red, are two tone red/black.
Anyone know anything about the red interior?

This car looks HOT ! love the leather color. I have not seen E55 like this. I don't believe any of this came to USA. Over here we don't even have parking sensors on W210 E55.

Was flicking through the net and found this thread, couldn't believe it.
This was my car car a while ago! The leather is factory special order designo red. When I had It I got an fdoc for the car detailing the full factory spec, it was in the book pack but that was a while ago. Great car I loved it. I put the rear lights on got them shipped from the states, sure I've still got the originals kicking about the garage somewhere!

Still a good car, and impressed so far. A big difference for me as my first German car after years of 370z, 350z ownership.
Unfortunately the full factory spec. documents are missing which is why I'm trying to get more info about the interior.
How long ago did you own it and what made you sell in the end, any stories?
Interesting that you put the rear lights on, and assume the lamp error comes from the resistance difference this give, was this happening when you had it?

It was a really good car. Off the top of my head the additional factory spec was
Designo dash (Black leather with read stitching)
Designo seats/door cards
Bose sound system
Electric rear blind
Heated rear seats
Doublelock on the bootlid and a strange option of a sumpguard!!!
I bought the car from one of the customers of the garage I worked in in Edinburgh at the time back in late 2005 early 2006. Think it had just over 80k on it. Sold it back in summer 2009 when I was working with Mercedes to a friend of one of the mechanics. Only got rid of it as I had bought a Cl 600 the previous year and the 55 was begining to show signs of the dreaded rust monster! The lamp warning light was on at the time due to the rear lamps as was the fault with the parktronic. Think that was caused by a corroded wiring harness. Brilliant car all the same. I did a bit of research at the time when I got it and it really is a one of a kind spec!!! Give me a shout if you want any more info.
