HIDs Fogs not working :( HELP!

Hey all,

I ordered the slim digital 35w HID kit with the error decoders from iJDMtoy. I hooked up the driver side bulb and it turned on, no error message. After installing the passenger fog light, the left one turned on for a second and then turned off, and the right one never turned on. After playing with the polarities and switching them around, I started getting the lamp defective message and both fog lights never came on again. Any one have any experience?? I'd appreciate any help!!

Joe

Are you sure the bulb didn't burn out from a surge? Swap the bulb into the ballast you know that works. I've had similar problems in the past, and my ballast burned up...check to make sure both bulbs are still good and start from there

+1 Never really a good idea to go w/HID in fogs me thinks. As you run into to many risks w/ burn outs/ water/ constant light blow outs. Plus to do it right you should really run a 12v harness adapter.

I went w/aftermarket bright bulbs that don't look like yellow more of a bright HID color.

GL though!

You probably blew the ballast. The fuse popped which indicates a power surge...

Where did you get these bulbs you speak of?! Do they give an error message? I take it they're not HID's and don't need a ballast?

Thanks!

you can find them anywhere online , or even at your local autoparts stores . Most likely they will have a blu tint on the glass. to me the best halogen bulb that come close are PIAA bulbs even those emit a yellow tho , but there so many knock off these days who knows whose who anymore . thats why i went 55watt hids and never looked back got tired of messin with the 35watt kits , hooked em up last year and still going strong . One thing I can tell u though is everytime Ive bought lights from forum vendors , I always had hard time getting replacements , of all the hid xenon ebay sellers i bought from they have all sent replacement expedited mail free and didnt even have to send the bulb or ballast back I just look for US sellers lol. not to knock any vendors here just been my experience

honestly though once you slap hid in there its hard to go back to halogens . the biggest issue i see personaly with them is getting the negative wire to clip on the housing , I cut the bulb wires and fish them through the vent hole on the cap then solder and seal them , like that you dont have to drill a hole in the cap . but everyone had their own way of doing it
also i have leds through the whole car and some are not can-bus or whatever so I get a light malfunction but it doesnt bother me as much as it does others

Let me know how you make out I am having the same trouble, The bulb looks good but I put a new one in anyways 4.88 55watt hids on ebay for a pair. I did put test light on the wires and got no power. The fuse looks fine so I am lost and looking for others that may have the fix. I posted the problem but after 358 views no help from anyone.

maybe you have a bad ballast or bulb ..
have you ever got them to work ..
where did u test it ..
if you have another car with battery under the hood <my benz is in back seat> take the kit and hook it up leave light inside protector sheild hook it up all and run pos to pos and negative to negative and see if they power up there .. if they dont then u have problem with kit and not car

also check and see the part that plugs into the ballast somtimes you have to flip it over because the + and - might be crossed

Fog lights

The car is new to me 5 days now. The passegen side fog light was not workind so I bought H1 100W x2 pcs High/ Low/ Fog Light Xenon HID even though the old bulb looked fine. I took the test light to all items and did not see any power coming to the fog light, I may have not been grounded buse I would not test the test light. I will pook around this weekend. Look like no power is getting there and the fuse tested fine, any ideas ?

not sure what type bulbs or what your using
is it ballast and bulb .. our E55 dont use H1 bulb we use H3 bulbs
are you just using the bulb .. look around for the wire that leave the foglight housing somtimes they come loose or can also rust off apart from eachother

check the connector outside of the foglight. It is a known problem for the terminals to corrode if exposed to the elements.

Ok tha makes sense

OK I am understanding now you have the eliment aka bulb then you have a connector that plugs into that then about 7 inches away there is a plug that connects to the main line ans I bet that is where the problem is. Now I can test the line before and after that connector. If I get power on one side and not the other it's rust or corrsion.
