02 E55 AMG

Hi,

I am looking at an 02 E55. It has 107,580 miles, and they are asking $15995. It has had 1 owner. It is fully loaded, park assist, ipod hook up. I am going to take and look at it this weekend. What do you guys think of the price???

The price is too high ! I paid $11,500 for mine 2000 and its like new condition. Do you know whats like NEW ? its really no kidding new. original paint, the leather is so smooth and so clean. And mine had only 84K miles when I picked up. (Now 89K)

For 2002 that mileage top $13k. Good luck !

They're asking way too much. I'd probably let my '01 with slightly lower miles go for $12,000 right now. All the maintenance is up to date, but there are a few things that need to be taken care of (front tires being the biggy) before it's ready to be sold.

W210 E55s are going for pretty cheap in my area now. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/c...inAsk=&maxAsk=

Here's a '00 Designo Edition with the same mileage for under $10,000.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/2841686713.html

Values have dropped quite a bit on these lately from what I can tell on CL. It kind of sucks since I'm looking to sell mine soon.

Depends what's important to you but also agree it's high. My theory is cars generally depreciate on average about $3k/yr and depending on how many miles you put on per year, you can make your decision. To put in perspective, I got my 01 e55 for $15.7k with 49k miles and immaculate with a 1 yr warranty but no command or designo. I drive about 9k/yr so figure I can drive for 5 yrs and have less than 100k and maybe still sell for 8k? Who knows in the future but recommend that you also factor in your exit strategy into your purchasing decision if your finances can accommodate. Purchase price is only one factor with maintenance being another big consideration. Replacing trans fluid, tires, brakes, rotors, ect can add up as well.

My exit strategy:

1)Car is paid off
2)Continue to drive car debt free until it explodes
3)Buy another EXX at the same price I bought my last one for what ever model year that may be
4)Rinse and Repeat

+1 but to drive it until it explode will take a long long time........ W210 can out last many other models. As long you take care the car with basic stuff, it should last good. I would say $1k per year repair maintenance in average. $5K in 5 years is not that expensive. I have seen in autotrader E55 W210 190K for sale at $7K.

Dude, if you find one you like, has the options you want, checks out ok, offer a fair price and buy the damn thing, don't look back. These things are amazing.

Is this the tectite car for sale in Portland?

I saw it on craigslist, looks nice and with the option load and color is insanely rare - possibly has everything but designo as I see it also has vented seats. Prices are always negotiable, in this age of rising gas prices it might be a slow mover, if it all checks out maybe offer 13-ish, and a lot of car for the money at that.

This is the last year for this model hence everything that is really a problem, MB has fixed or tried to fixed it. If you are in the market for this model, 2002 is the model year to get. Give him an offer....the worse is, they will say "no".

That price is way too high. If I would have known, you could have had mine. I just unloaded it at the Dodge dealer in Eugene. sure it's still there if anyone wants it

Yeap, $5k in 5 years for repair and maintenance. Its also consider cheap.
What can you buy $12k today ? even a used Honda Accord are not cheap today. And I believe W210 is much safer car than Accord or Camry.

Paid $14k for my 2001 with only 61k one owner miles from a BMW dealer less than 4 months ago. I did take advantage of a less than knowledgeable BMW sales person and got it for about what they gave. I don't see the outdated NAV or seat colors as a selling point and there is usually a list of things that need doing to these cars. Ask if the motor mounts have been replaced, MAF, plugs, etc...etc... If you plan to DIY, go for it but at a way lower price. If you don't plan to do your own maint., wait for one with less miles. Also, ALL W210 MODELS """MAY""" HAVE RUST ISSUES...IT'S A LONG AND WELL DOCUMENTED HISTORY..RESEARCH WHERE TO LOOK AND GET A COMPLETE PPI INSPECTION REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU BUY.

That's too much money for the first year of the W211. Maybe an '04 or an '05 for that money. I would rather have a higher mileage car but a later model then a low mileage car but an earlier model year. I am fortunate to get a 2002, last year they made the W210. This is just my opinion.

Hmmm I guess my research is wrong.

Kbb trade in value 20k?
Retail 26k?
MSN = 24k value
Autotrader there are around 4000 e55's

Under 75,000 miles for under 20k not one car
Comes up.. All of the US.

From my research it's a good price. My local
Mercedes dealer said I should be able to trade
In next year for 19 to 20k. I'm also from NH,
I get this clean cars back here and I normally
Don't loose out.
Can anyone else chime in here? What's a good deal
On an 03 e55? 15k?
Thanks

If you are getting a 03 E55 for $15K watch out ! there must be something wrong. As other stated before, try to get 04 or 05+ around $20K will save you more money down the road. Good luck.

For your answer you should do some search in E55 W211 section. Here is W210. Before you pop the question if E55 W211 reliability I suggest you read some threads first.

you'd be surprised if I told you how much I got my 04 for.

as for whats a good deal on an 03 E55.... it really depends how clean it is. Does it have records? What does it need? I'd say up to $16-17k is still a fair price if its in fairly nice condition.
