After doing an extensive search on this subject,I still haven't figured out if this swap is possible. I did find some old threads where people were saying they did the swap for E320's,but it involved shaving some of the inner taillight using a dremel. They even had a DIY,but the pictures are gone since it's from 2003 and you couldn't understand much of it.
I really hate my '99 E55's red tailights and I would love to swap over to the '00 => E55 smoked OEM ones.
Do they have an upgraded OEM part that fits without mods to it,or if it still involves shaving it,is there a DIY that I haven't found?
Do any of you guys have them for sale or aware of some for sale on EBay and such?

If your 99 is a pre facelift (I think it is), then you can put the later lights in...but a shave is needed as you say. I don't think its difficult... though I've never seen a thread showing it.
