I'm just headed over to my dealership, so I'll ask my MB tech when I'm there for you. I'll get back to you later this afternoon

My car just hit 91K last week. I only drive 5 miles a day and 3 times a week.
So far it didn't let me down. For the last 6 months I did, new tires, new brakes/rotors, air filter and new battery. All the basic stuff so this car is really easy maintenance. Since I only drive 5 miles a day, I don't really care about MPG....... i only got 12MPG now

In 3 months, will change the spark plugs and tranny oil change.

My tech says to connect to Xentry (dealer software) and clear all the codes. See if that fixes it. Reset everything pertaining to the climate system.

Or you could also call a few Indys to see if they have the Snap tool to reset. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to be Xentry.

You could always disconnect the battery method for free that will defiantly reset the values of the AC and ECU.

I've got both the snap on scanners. They don't work too well compared to MB's system. You'll have to connect to the fusebox. The OBDII port doesn't do anything when you scan these cars.

Thanks so much for asking!! I already had an indie mechanic hook up this "computer" to it and reset it, and that didn't work. I did some research and found a renowned MB mechanic a little far out and called and he said the problem is most likely low refrigerant, and that he will do a diagnostic and refill & dye the refrigerant for $145. I have read multiple reviews and have heard all the mechanics are MB certified mechanics and that they do very honest work. I'm headed over there now and should hear back this evening.

Since we're all talking, has anyone got the selectable sprint booster? I have it and want to run the button to the inside of my car....is this possible?!

My wife's DD now. Bought it 2 years ago at 42K. Now the car has 61K. For the past two years, regular maintainence and changing AC condenser. Rear brake lights connections always iffy. Other than that, everything has been fine.

I still have mine. Drive it every day. Racked up close to 16k miles in the last 12 months. Hope to keep it for at least another 4 years. No problems over the last 12 months except for some minor problems with the air bladder seats. Need to do brakes soon though. BTW, I'm just at 94k miles now.

Thanks. There's actually another tectite car in my area too, but not kept as clean. I see it about once a year. Labor of love keeping it spotless...but I paid for it, so what the hell.

I should chime in, a little sheepishly, that the car has 52xxx miles on it. Not driven enough I know...but finding time to really take it out is not easy...I live close to work, and anyone around Seattle knows that 6 days a week, driving here is pretty crappy.

It goes in for B service Monday.

Hi there I have recently removed the rear muffler and have straight pipes to amg tips sounds ok growls into life but disapears at idle and low rpm, I am after that deep consistant rumble that really sings at high rpm, was I meant to remove the large center resonator instead. whats my next step on shoe string budget...

Do you have the E50 AMG in Europe? Because I see you wrote 98 W210 E55-I thought they only brought the E55s in the US in 99... I don't see your profile, because I'm on a mobile device...
Anyway,I'm not an expert in tuning, but I've been hearing a lot of folks here installing an X-pipe. You can also do your headers Kleemann or AMS(see Kleemann vs AMS thread on this forum) and remove one of the cats for added power. It depends on your budget...
I'm sure other people here will help...
Good luck and let us know how it turned out!

Thanks for your reply, I am located in Auckland New Zealand so the car is a Euro spec E55, have been told it is an early delivery and probably one of the first to arrive here in NZ Back in 98. The X pipe sounds good (and so do the headers probably not affordable right now). These cars are not generally TINKERED with in any way down under, but I can see and want to release the amg hot-rod potential without spending thousands.

Just passed 140K miles , driven since 100K have yet experience anything other then swapping springs , driven over 2 yrs on just mobil1 oil and mobil1gasoline premium . other then what i spent for audio wheels that type stuff have not sunk one penny into this car for parts or labor and its going strong as a **** lol ..

I do get this weird noise between 60-70 when i give it gas gently but man this has been a dream to drive . Got couple rust spots but they dont stick out badly on the black but I still know where they at and thats the only reason id consider gettin rid of it otherwise its been so good to me I couldnt part wit it rust or not ..

Really dont come on as much as I use to doto work and my new found passion and hobby RC cars LMAO

I've got that same issue. Sounds like a weird hum or resonance. I've been trying to troubleshoot it for 6 months. It doesn't do it if I downshift to 4th gear no matter how hard I try. Only in 5th gear, very light throttle. Either trying to maintain 60-65mph or passing through with gentle acceleration.

1st I thought it was tires and road noise, but I started noticing it on lots of different surfaces. Then maybe wheel bearings, but the noise should remain in 4th. Same thoughts on drive shaft/coupling/bearings, but I still haven't completely ruled those out. Possibly just an exhaust resonance? Worst case might be something in the transmission, but I think that is unlikely.

When the weather cools off here, I plan to have a look at many things on the car including the drive shaft/coupling/etc.

Will post up a couple next week. Gotta get a couple of better snaps. Skyline to Alices would be fun... more so on the Ducati vs. the E55... but I am game later this year.

yea i have that same symptom somhow lol
i only get it if i gently give it throttle between 60-70
I also thought it could be exhuast drone or somthing but it feels like I can feel the hum sort of vibrate on the floorboard but could just be my imagination .. I tried to record the sound on video with radio off windows closed but it wouldnt show up .
