Tool Talk
Anyone have recommendations for certain tools, brands? Common tools we need for our 210's? Right now I'm shopping for a good E-Torx socket set, any good sets out there? A majority of my tools are Craftsman from 15-20 years ago, that were passed down to me. They seem to be decent quality... recently bought a set of Craftsman impact driver bits and they were crap, broke after one use. Returned them for a set of Milwaukee Shockwave bits and they are holding up fine. I searched the forums for tool info and there isn't much, so I was hoping to get some info here. Thanks guys!

I'm not affiliated to any of these brands, but I use with success Gearhead,Snap-on and some Craftsman tools.
I also recommend,if you're going to keep your E55 for a while, buying specialized tools from sources like EBay,Amazon and such...lots of tools specific to our cars, like Mercedes spring compressor, fuel level sending unit removal tool, instrument cluster, radio removal tool kit...and a lot more that are going to make your projects easier.
Good luck and happy DIY-ing!

And to anyone who's interested... I just talked to relatives back home. Seems like I can get OEM Benz Hazet/Stahlwille/Etc. tools. I mainly asked for an external torx socket set that's made by Hazet. If anyone here is interested in any tools that have the Mercedes logo on them, let me know. I'd be glad to help.
PS. I picked up that Felo set, should be here next week.

I got a set of these nylon pry tools from Amazon, they are perfect for anything involving trim or any interior work:
They are pretty hefty and substantial, none of them feel like they'll snap or anything like that. For the price, hard not to have a set around.

I always prefer Snap-On or Matco as I have to use them all day long and a cheap tool can lead to busted knuckles.

I'll post pics when they get here.

Doesn't seem too many people are into tools...? Well anyways... I cancelled that Felo set. Bought the Wiha/Heyco E-Torx set and Wera Zyklop ratchet. Should be a good combo... and they should be here today ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Here is a little video on the Wera Zyklop...

Thanks for sharing!
To be honest with you,I've never heard of this Wera Zyklop, but I've watched the video with interest!
I've just finished helping my friend changing the water pump on the M104 engine and I got to tell you,the 45 degree angle on that ratchet could've helped us a lot break loose those pulleys. I'm just wondering if it's really that good as a breaker bar like they're showing or it's just good advertising.I'll have to wait for your report before spending 80$ on a ratchet.

You don't need all that power just for the tensioner, but I'm sure it will make things a lot easier. Why don't you use the Wera ratchet to loosen a few pulleys and let me know if you manage to break it. I find it very intriguing,I want to hold one in my hand see how it is...I found it a little cheaper the other day, around 60$,maybe I'll get it...

They also make these wrenches... but from what I know, they offer them in limited sizes... mostly for German cars.

I'll buy some Hazet tools when they get a distribution center going in America. I think they are in talks to bring the brand over here. Snap On is bringing Blue Point back to America which is good news too.

Btw... if you ever need any MB specific tools, I can get them shipped over here for you.
