Summer time No AC

Has anyone had any problems with their air conditioning compressor. I recently took my car to recharge the AC with no luck. My mechanic says My compressor is shot. He also quoted me $700 to get the job done including OEM parts and labor.

With the weather being 100+ lately you'd want that fixed asap.

That's a decent price for the repair but there is no chance that is using OEM parts.

OEM compressor alone is $700 at a discount. MSRP is $970

Great point! I thought that price was a little low. But nonetheless priceless not having AC! If he can warranty it parts/labor. I'd go for it....

I would highly advise ordering through that website. Look at the reviews online and the fact that there is no phone number should tell you something.

Thumbs up

Actually JamE55 this website is the real deal hollyfield. Ha! I order most of my goodies through Autohaus but auto parts will actually deliver OEM straight from Mercedes Benz warehouse. How do I know this.

^^ When's the last time you ordered through that website?

I asked because i've ordered from them too a long time ago but now i think they've changed ownership. A quick google review of that site will tell you. Again why isn't there a phone number to call? I see the contact form they provide online but what if you want to talk to their customer service?

I'm just saying because a few months ago i was going to order something and want to talk to a live customer service but no phone number. Just a warning to would be buyers.

Rock Auto has a Denso a/c compressor for $226.79. It says that Denso is the OE supplier.

Their site looks ghetto, but I've ordered a bunch of crap from them and never had an issue.

RockAuto is the place to go...I ordered plugs and wires and recently tierods from them. Also, don't forget the 5% discount coupon

The Germans still have to learn how to build A/C compressors that work and last. My E55 and both my C43s have Japanese Denso compressors built in China, and they not only outperform the stock Bosch units (by quite a significant margin) but they last. And at 1/4 of the German price, do the math.

Are you sure it's the compressor, is your EC light stuck on? Have you tried the write up? Not trying to be insulting or anything, but sometimes it's worth trying the simple things.

In the summer of 2011, EC light was stuck on due to a outside temp sensor not working. It was a simple fix and after A/C worked fine. I wish it was the same problem
