iPhone integration 01 E55

I just bought a 01 E55 AMG with 87k miles, what a great car? Had a PPI done
nothing major found, the car had been maintained by the local dealer.New Michelins will be mounted today, lower control arm bushings and the rear seal will be replaced next week. Also will have the transmission and rear end serviced at the same time by my independent shop. The car is the proper color for a Mercedes, Brilliant Silver with the black interior.
I would like to integrate my iPhone into the car, checked out all the post about
this but didn't find anything specific to the 01. The car has a cradle in the console with a cable, looks like it fits a V60, no navigation just the Becker
radio with the CD changer. Has anyone been successful with the integration of
an iPhone 5 into these cars?
ps Wow, this car is fast

2001 E55
Do you mind very much my asking what you paid for the car? I am thinking of selling mine, also a 2001 (black/black) just turned 100k miles and in excellent shape, I am the second owner since it was returned after a 2 year lease.
I don't think the cars are appreciated for what they are and so prices tend to be pretty low from what I can see; $8,000-$12,000 range but mine is dealer serviced till about 5 years ago when I found a superb indie and I have all the records.
Just not sure what to get instead and $12,000 doesn't get you much as an alternative these days.
Thanks in advance

The factory phone was analog, nothing but an old phone (eg. StarTac) will function with the stock cradle.
I'm using a Motorola HF850. It sync'd to my iPhone 4S no problem. You can find it on Amazon pretty affordable. There are other models. But I know this one works for me.
As for maintaining factory head unit and adding an iPod or smartphone connection. I used a product called 'iSimple'. They make different kinds, but shop around and ask a 'good' stereo shop, they'll know. I say a good one because, I went to 2 that had no idea how to do it. One suggested I send the head unit away for 'rewiring'. No thanks.
All done I have automatic blue tooth connection, and if i can charge my phone and play Pandora at the same time, and I keep the steering wheel controls functional. WIN-WIN

I know, they're a lot of fun. Mine is for sale at the moment, but I really hope it doesn't sell. Nothing out there that does what these can do for the $$$. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I hate NAV, idrive, multifunction touch screen. My wife has a Lexus, I can't stand it. Ok rambling, sorry. Good luck and congrats on the car, they're a hoot.
