Some New Bling
My side mirror gaskets were in really bad shape. I think too much sun in Texas and California where the car had been previously. I looked for a new set of gaskets unsuccessfully and decided to buy a whole new set of complete aftermarket mirrors. They included the motor assemblies, gaskets and covers. This decision was made easier because my mirrors had a lot of issues: The painted covers were beat up badly; the gaskets were trashed; the passenger side motor was really sluggish; and the driver's side auto dimming function had failed (the passenger side had already been replaced with a standard mirror by the PO). The new covers came with black primer. So it was an easy decision to have the graphic applied.
I had never thought about doing the grill until snoozie mentioned it in an earlier thread. I had bought an all black grill and had it on for a little while, so I decided to have it done at the same time. If I didn't like it I had the OE grill so no big deal. Thanks for the idea, snoozie.
I will do the B pillars next in the same CF pattern. I'm also going to do the anodized trim under the side windows and around the rear window in black.
Note that I applied plastic dip to my emblems on the deck lid as well as the emblems on my engine cover. I also added a flat hood badge.
I'm loving this car!

If you don't mine me asking, how much did you pay to get the grille done?

snoozie: The grill and mirrors cost $211. Unfortunately I didn't ask for an itemized breakdown.
Thanks,

As time went on and I viewed one or two cars, I began to swing towards white. I don' t know what it is about the colour, something to do with a pure and understated elegance which hides a stinking V8 attitude?
I'll take some more photos of my car today and post them for you...
For now I have these: https://mbworld.org/forums/members/m...amg-10525.html
I sold mine a couple of months ago. It was a 99 silver and not nearly as perfect as yours! Mine had 170K miles when I sold it...these cars last forever. I drive an E46 M3 now with Comp Pkg but I'll always remain a big fan of the W210 E55 and hopefully own one again at some point.

So engine and interior mods will continue to happen
This E55 will look stock but sound and go like not
What has the transition from Mercedes to BMW been like for you? The drive, the attachment to the marque etc?
The M3 is a sports car with a proper manual gearbox. The E55 is a luxury sedan with the heart(power train) of a lion and will handle like a boat if left stock. Very comfy car though...
Read a bit into AMG history...around those years they've taken the E430,modified the engine, different exhaust and very little on the suspension etc.
I believe I've read AMG started building the E63 from the ground up with performance in mind very recently, with the W212...

So they really did go back to the drawing board with the engineering! Would we agree that even though the power hikes are quite apparent, the cars are also getting heavier? So the extra power is necessary to keep pace?
The newer models are getting heavier, they have more electronics and are more complicated.
All windows beside the windshield are tinted and pretty heavily (its hot as hell out here Lol) so its just an illusion. The combination of all the other tints makes the windshield look tinted too I guess? The tints protect my skin and the skin on the seats Lol... The interior is the AMG "Condor" leather in black. Its in amazing condition. The driver entry side seat bolster is just starting to show a little wear but I'll be having the leather taken care of fully around Christmas time. Freshen everything up

I'll be uploading videos of the car soon. With the sound system modification process and the exhaust modification process... I'll make sure I post the links!
