side view mirror controller replacement

side view mirror controller replacement-image-3199016143.jpg

I think I'll need to replace the mirror control button it no longer controls the passenger side view mirror. This appears to be an easy fix once I get past removing the wood grain gear shift plate the surrounds the window lift controls, gear shifter, mirror controls, etc...

Anyone with any experience in removing those items? Is it a push forward and upward, or...??

NOT JUST A SWITCH

If this is really the problem, it is not solved by replacing a switch; it is a switch assembly:
210 821 39 51

You can find them on Ebay priced from $150 to $200 used or $290 New.

Good luck but look for other problems first.

Correct! I did remove the wood grain plate, and revealed the "switch assembly" that also houses the window controls, trunk release switch, rear window shade control, ESP selector, airbag indicator, and child window locks.

I have no doubt that this is the problem:

there are two buttons top left/right on the switch that allow you to select which mirror you want to adjust. The left button works just fine, when you push it down, the right button pops up. However, when you push the right button down to control the passenger side mirror, it pops right back up. After several attempts, you can get it to stay in place and thereby control the passenger mirror, but it's touch and go at best.

Thanks for your input!
