My wife is supposedly Getting me a stainless X pipe and 45 degree bent pipes to match to get my exhaust done up (X-mas gift to me) I am also currently in the beginning talks with a guy to have some custom equal length long tube headers built. I have some goals in mind for this car, they are a bit high, but I think they are obtainable.. Altho, I may anger some purists in the midst of it.

Tell me about the Magnecor wires. Did you use 7mm, 8mm, or a larger size? I've read they are difficult to install. Was that your experience? Are they red? Where did you purchase them?

Thanks!

I'm glad I could be of help and inspire you blokes!
Actually the tips are quite dirty, but the HDR effect made it look shiny and clean.

Cheers!

Trust me when I tell you it will be the best mod sound/performance/cost wise.
Do you have the resonator deleted? 2nd cats?
If you're planning on replacing the rear cats with an x-pipe you don't need the bent pipes, and you'll gain more power because it's closer to the engine.

Keep us updated mate.

Good luck

I no longer recommend installing Aftermarket air filters and wires. The filters allowed dirt to contaminate the MAF and oil became noticeably dirty. As for magnecor wires they were fine the first 5-6 months then all of a sudden the car started to run like crap and misfire. Installing Bosch wires/Mann filters cured my problems.

Magnecor KV85 8.5mm Competition Ignition Cables

I was thinking in buying the OEM replacement but I found that Magnecor wires cost the same, so I decided to give it a try.
I won't say it's hard, but some sort of tricky you have to push the wire at a certain angle until you hear/feel the click over the plug.
The wires might look short but they are flexible and have enough length. I like how Magnecor organised everything! you'll find 3 sets of instructions and the wires come organised for each cylinder (1A,2A,.....)
So no worries there.
Yes the colour is red, the engine looks beautiful now!

I bought the wires form:
Needswings
http://www.needswings.com/Magnecor-K...les-85240.aspx
This is my first time I buy from them and so far so good!
Fast shipping and the communication with Rob is great.

Good luck

Thanks for the feedback, Faiz. I'm going to give them a try when I get around to changing the plugs.

Sold the E55 back in 2016. Here is what I think:
- For the NA AMG M113, deleting 2nd cats + resonator + X-pipe = best mod for both sound and money.
- Magnecor wires look nice, but had issues after some time. Stock wires are the best.
- Afe dry filters are convenient, since you can wash them and re-use them for a long time, however, keep in mind that more flow = more dirt.

2001 E55 OMG
So a quick question. I have dying primary catalytic converters so I am using Davico to custom build the fronts only. I just cant find a shop to weld in custom race pre cats locally.

Since I have to remove and cut away the down pipes from the x pipe, I was thinking of having one pipe piece from the X pipe to the muffler instead of welded in pieces- pipe then 45 degree mandrels back to pipe. I have been told different pieces of advice, but should this pipe diameter need to be ID 2.25 or enlarged to 2.5 like my X-pipe. I have been told go 2.75 -3" but feel like this will rob me of back pressure and reduce low/mid end further despite sound.

Or does any of this matter?

2.25 is enough flow for the engine unless you are planning on making extensive mods with forced induction, nitrous, more aggressive cams, larger-tube headers, etc.. If you look at the cam profiles, they are fairly conservative for a high-performance engine. The single exhaust valve can only flow so much, and the cats will come up to optimal temperature much faster with the 2.25 pipes minimizing temperature losses due to the more constant pressure/volume and also the smaller external surface area of the pipe. If you widen the pipes post-cat it's not going to have such an effect.

I need to post pictures and a video of my 2000 e55 Kleeman headers, x pipes, no res and stock muffler 2.5in pipes. Running on E85 it’s sounds nice

Please do. I want to mod my 2002 E55 exhaust. Not sure how deep I want to get into this, but at a minimum, the resonator has to go.
Thanks!
