Any differences from E55 MY 99-01?
I'm thinking about buying an E55 but want to know what differences there are between the model years from 99 to 03. I'm currently driving a 00 540iA. I'm thinking about an M5 but don't know if I want to drive a stick again.
Thanks

If cost is not object get a 2000+ models (2000-2002) with the mid model updates or facelift. However, the changes are only visual - no improved performance. Some features added to 2000+ E55:
Blinkers on outside mirrors
Tele-Aid (like OnStar)
Navigation option
Voice Activation Option
Body colored lower panels
Body colored door handles
Shiftable Auto Transmission
Free Schedule Maintanance
Lower front end (Hood and Grill)
Updated tail lights
Go here for "Model Overview":

2006 E-55
I also was looking for a M-5 but ran across an 02 E-55 and decided to go that way. I travel a fair amount and was worried about shifting. I have no regrets. I really like the car and have not looked back.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
But overall build quality....
on the 99 is quite poor. 2000 up much better, although not still what a Benz should be.

The 99's also posted the best 0-60 times of 4.7 seconds and the later 210 E55 models could only muster 4.99. I think the auto mags said it was a change in the tranny?
