One AMG Too Many - '99 E55 FS
I have 5 cars incl a '99 E55 and '05 SL65 - despite loving the NatAss 55 and the bulletproof reliability, it's time to consider parting with her.
I'm the 3rd owner; I'm familiar with the first owner (from NYC; garaged her in Watch Hill RI); as well as the 2nd owner (Rockville, MD). 2nd owner purchased her CPO at 27k mi - she now has ~55k mi. I drive her 8 mos/yr, store her 4 mos/yr; and avg driving her 4k mi/yr. ALWAYS garaged.
She's black-on-black (no 2-tone interior) and has black ash trim has rear sunscreen, rare MB / Siemens Nav system (orig owner opted for no Command but wanted Nav system - see interior pic), "no bling" option (no external E55 or AMG emblems), htd seats, blue tint windows (OEM), 6-CD player, moonroof, etc.
Condition - some rash on 2 wheels, CD player needs replacement, and has minor scratches on paint. Mechanically - she's a 10+!
How much? I won't take anything in the 4 figure range (i.e., must be >$10k). PM me with questions, clarifications, offers, etc.
Thanks!

After we agreed, "buyer" flashed cash and lowered what he'd pay when he came to get the car...
Sleazeball...told him to get off my property...
She's still avail!

I know you really wanted too.. but you should've given him a swift kick square up in his @$$ on his way off your property. I absolutely detest lowballers like that!

'99 and '05 E55 AMG
I recommend standing fast with your price even though it may take you a bit longer to find a buyer.
I purchased my '99 E55 with 79,000 miles for $7000. It's cost me $4500 and significant time to get it to what I regard as "excellent" condition similar to yours. Paint, bodywork, headliner, wheels, tires, suspension work, normal maintenance, resolving DTCs, etc.
I am not in the market for another '99 E55 but...if I were...I would travel to your location and if the car were as good as the photos indicate, would offer $10K cash or bank check, be willing to go as high as $11K, and expect to settle at $10,500.
A vehicle is worth exactly what a buyer is willing to pay. You won't find many buyers at that price but there are a few of us out here. You just have to find them...that is a wonderful example of a car you have. Wish I'd seen it 18 months ago.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We think alike...
I don't have to part with her; in fact, my wife knows how much the 55 means to me and suggests I pay for garage space. That said, I really don't use her that much anymore. I slug to work in a SUV on most days and use the 65 when the weather is good enough for top-down commutes.
She's not perfect but for a 16 year old car (w/only ~56k miles), she's close enough. In fact, I was going to enter her in a local Concours d'Elegance show but instead I showed the 65. I took home 1st place and feel the 55 would have at least placed. I keep them running/looking fine.
Like you, there's others out there that appreciate what a great ride the naturally aspired ("natass") 55 is and will continue to be for years to come (even if that means +150k more miles)!
Thanks again and enjoy your ride!

thanks m38 - give me a heads-up if you're in the Fairfax area and care to see her. she's in the shop for an oil chg and once over to ensure all is good before she's put away for the winter.
