Headlight Lens Restoration

Headlight Lens Restoration
I recently acquired a 2001 E55 AMG. All service has been kept up to date at the MB dealership. I received a print out of all service performed since it was first sold. I have mostly minor cosmetic items to deal with. Today, I started the restoration of my headlight lens covers. I used 3M 39045 Headlight Renewal Kit. The kit only had enough of the sandpaper to restore the lens on one side of the car. I ordered another kit and hope to have the other side done later this week.
Here is a before and an after picture. Looks good to me.

Looks good! I too used the same kit but was able to get it done with one kit I find that the coating on this lens is much harder it seems than other cars.
The rounded shape of the lens takes a steady hand. For giggles, I polished the back lights and turn signals- looked brand new.
Its been a year though and mine still looks good but it looks like it may be time for a quick touch up buff polish for me.

Somewhere I saw a clear plastic sheet that you can put on the outside surface of the lens to protect it from road debris. For the life of me I cannot remember where that was.

The daytime running light on the drivers side was burnt out when I picked the car up.
The only place in town that had them was the MB Dealer. $8.00 each. I was dreading the installation since the washer fluid reservoirs are in the way of the access port. Those clever Germans designed the head light washer reservoir so that it lifts out of the way and you do not have to drain the fluid from it.
Took longer to drive to the dealer than it took to change the bulb.

The front lower fascia has two cracks in it that I need to repair. I'm looking for repair methods for this material. It looks like someone bumped into it. I also ordered some touch up paint to fix the little chips on the leading edge of the hood.
