BEAUTIFUL cars everyone. Love the black one... I always thought I would always drive black cars (my last SUV was black), but they're so rare around here with these and when the right one came up, she was silver.
Agree with the mileage/aging. Well taken care of, they have a long life.
I regularly see w210s on the road, and some still look great. I see an impressive number of them for a car no younger than 13.
The challenge I'm trying to fight preemptively is aging. My car was garage kept for sure, and now she's outside in the BRUTAL Florida sun. Needless to say she has tons of wax on her, with a new area reapplied after every wash, therefore the whole car gets waxed in cycles every month.

I picked up a 2000 with 141k on the clock last month. Just had the headlights and wheels professionally refinished (first 2 pics). Last pick is prior to refinishing. Sold the white 1998 diesel (186k) because it was time for something with a little more grunt.
Engine strong but REALLY needs the suspension refreshed
Cheers,

I found an old picture thread started about 8 years ago with some great pictures in it. A lot of those posters are no longer active and I know we have a lot of new members present, so I want to start a fresh thread. Please post pictures of your car: exterior, interior, mods, engine bay, etc. I love looking at these cars. I'll start with some of mine. Thanks!

Thanks, Faiz!
Beautiful! Funny, having never seen a picture of your car I assumed it was silver! Love the Obsidian - I've seen a few in person. Did your car have COMAND originally? If so, after installing the aftermarket head unit how do you adjust the clock in the instrument cluster? Are there provisions in the head unit to do so? Magnecor wires?

My car didn't have COMAND, it had the single DIN. I bought the double-Din bracket and wooden trim later. As for the clock, I remember someone had the same issue. He went to the dealer they adjusted the clock using SDS and deleted the COMAND option from the car. AFIK SDS is the only way.
Yeah, Magnecor wires look Bad*** . Smoother engine and easier to remove.
The M3 is......just......EPIC! You sir, have great taste in cars
Beware of the beasts Both cars look nice.

Hyperion, how did you color your trunk badges black? Fits your car very nicely. What a fresh interior!
Here's dos mas, in the upload process they may have compressed a bit which might throw off tone curves etc.

Let Me See Some Mods!
I would like to specifically request anyone that has installed LED bulbs to please show the results. I realize it may be difficult to get good pics of the LED lights, but if you have any, I want to check them out. Interior LED's, license plate LED's, fog lights, etc. I've never used LED's, but may try some in the future.
By far, my favorite mod can't normally be seen, but heard and felt. I have Top Speed stainless steel headers that are known to have uneven flanges, so I had them sanded flat at a machine shop. I then had them ceramic coated inside and out.
The passenger side was easy to put on once the coil packs and wires were removed. The driver's side was much more difficult due to less area to work around, but doable.
This was a good time for me to reseal my leaking breather boxes and replace the old, brittle hoses that connect to the breather boxes.
Here are some pics of the inside of the stainless steel headers before and after the ceramic coating. As you can see, they are a lot smoother in addition to the thermal benefits of the coating.
Most remove the secondary cats and install an x-pipe in their place and remove the resonator. I opted to replace the secondary cats with 200 cell cats and replace the resonator with the x-pipe.
I'm satisfied with the setup. If you are thinking about doing any of this, I think you will be happy with the results!

I was on my old, rarely used laptop the other day and found a lot of old pictures that I hadn't seen in years. I found these of my old W124. It was a 1994 E320 that I owned during the early 2000's. What a great car! It was one of the best running/driving cars I've ever owned. Great inline six and chassis. I wish I still owned it. One day I would love to own a W124 500E (or E500).
Please post pics of any former or current Mercedes cars that you have/had in addition to your E55. Thanks!

Great looking 740i! What did the Sport option entail? Suspension and more horsepower? Have you further modified the suspension? How does it compare to the E55? Thanks for posting the pics.

The Sport consists of a more aggressively geared differential along with Steptronic trans,M-Parallel rims,M-3spoke steering wheel,suspension..I have to be honest..As far as looks go I absolutely love my Beemers looks over my E55.I feel most people share this opinion as it turns heads everywhere I go..It may have to do with the 7 looking much bigger than the E55 to the big body sedan lovers..As far as performance the E55 drives like a Cadillac compared to the 7..They are both on H&Rs and Bilstein Yellows(Just recently went Koni on the E55),,the Bimmers steering seems way tighter and more responsive than the E55..Just slightly move the wheel and the car travels in that direction with minimal movement..The E55 has more play and takes more movement to go in the direction you want. Both cars have had full suspension overhauls so it is an honest comparison..Ive done 150MPH in tne Bimmer with the windows closed and you cant hear any outside noise..The Bimmer feels firmly planted at high speeds and Im more confident driving the 7 at consistant higher speeds.Although the 7 feels pretty powerful for such a big car,,the E55 feels more powerful as it has 60hp on the 7 and it weighs less. They are both great driving cars but the Bimmer is definetely more sport inspired..To be honest, when I was looking at E55s I really had my heart set on the W211..After doing my research I decided on the W210 as the general concencus was the W210 was the most reliable and solid..Thats what really sold me as I love the Bimmer,,but it always needs something..ALWAYS...If you ever own one plan on a new radiator expansion tank every 1-2yrs,,New battery every 2yrs,,It eats front end parts and tires, bad window motors, has a major achilles heel with high timing chain guide failure.Mine is extremely well sorted and low mileage but it always needs something..I found a very well kept E55 and Im hoping its easier on my pockets than the 7..I also wasnt crazy about the W210 body but it is really starting to grow on me..

New Trunk Emblems
I haven't had much time to work on or drive my car this summer. I did however replace all of the trunk emblems over the last several weeks. A couple of years ago I Plasti-Dipped the emblems. It held up really well and I liked the contrast created between my silver paint and the black emblems. Somehow I managed to nick one of the emblems and thought I would just replace them instead of coating them again.
I found replacement emblems all over eBay in both flat black and gloss black. I actually liked the flat black from the Plati-Dip but decided to go with gloss since all of the other black pieces on the car are gloss. Before removing the old emblems I laid down horizontal and vertical lines with 1/8" painter's masking tape around all of the characters to help me to install the replacements in the correct position.
The E in the E55 went on first without problems. When I went to install the first 5, I knew the instant I made contact I had it just a tab bit crooked. I tried to remove it but it was too late. I then tried to finish installing it and twisting it straight, which didn't work. The last 5 went on fine. I tried living with it for a week but eventually ordered another set and replaced the crooked 5. I don't think most folks would have noticed it but I did and had to fix it.
The AMG letters and symbol came with an extra set, which was great. They also came in a frame so that they can be installed as one piece. Despite this and even with my tape marks I wasn't happy with the way it was positioned. So a couple of weeks later I removed them and installed the second set that came with the kit. I was being really picky because it was off just by the smallest amount.
The trunk star was the problem. I couldn't find a W210 star in gloss black (or flat black). After a lot of searching I had to go to the next best option. I found that the W210 star is 85 mm. The W212 star is 85 mm and was available in gloss black. The problem is the W210 star has an odd shape at the top where it lays over to meet the shape of the trunk, unlike the W212 emblem. So my plan was to use my heat gun to slowly heat the installed emblem until it gently took the shape of the trunk, which worked nicely.
The trunk star is held on by 3 little prongs on the back of the star that fit into three grommets that sit inside three holes in the trunk. So alignment isn't an issue. Unfortunately, when I went to press the three prongs into the grommets, the prongs on the W212 star didn't align with the holes/grommets in the W21O trunk. So I had to cut off two of the prongs. Since I could only use one prong I had to make sure to align the star properly. I also used small pieces of two-sided tape to ensure the star wouldn't move once in place. I also used the tape to ensure that the star would stay in place after the heat changed the shape of the top section.
It worked out fine. If they ever manufacture a W210 star in gloss black I will probably replace mine. I also replaced the 3 grommets. I destroyed the originals removing the original star. These new emblems aren't coated or painted. The finish is solid throughout the entire part. They shouldn't fade or discolor. It is an inexpensive change if you like the look. The install is a little time consuming and finicky but not that big of a problem. They really look good in person and I'm glad I took the effort to do the project.

New to me in July this year. Never owned MB before, never even crossed my mind to own one. Always thought outta my price range. I test drove a 2000 for only 15 minutes back in April and made it a mission to find the right one for me. Picked up this 2001 for just over $7k, just shy of 103k on the clock. Hard to explain the joy of driving and owning this fine automobile.
Other than restoring blemishes that are brought on as time passes, I plan to keep it as true to orginal as possible for as long as I get to enjoy it.
