Exhaust/Header build thread

FMU started the build a couple of weeks ago, but the last few days I noticed my tail pipe has been hanging lower every time I look at it. Took it to the local muffler shop today to find this problem of my muffler hanging by a thread:
As expected, the muffler shop told me they couldn't weld it so I guess I also need a new muffler. I had them weld a temporary hangar to hold me until the headers are finished.
Where are the Brabus mufflers when you need them
The obvious plan is to delete my primary cats and do a tune to eliminate the CEL, but now I'm considering deleting the muffler as well, or maybe going with a Magnaflow

Questions: how many of you guys have deleted the muffler altogether, and if you did, what does it sound like? What components do you have in place (primary/secondary cats, etc.)
Any insightful opinions? I will be posting progress here with plenty of pics, as the build continues.

I might run it straight for a while, but I really like the sound of the Magnaflow
I know mine might sound a little different, because our total exhaust systems are different (I'm not planning on running race cats)...
I am still looking for the elusive eisemann

If you have unequal length, the exhaust pulses will collide at certain RPMs creating an uneven power band and an exhaust system that isn't tuned to your engine's power band.
Equal length guarantees no weirdness.
Get the runners sized right for proper scavenging, velocity, and flow and you will have very impressive gains. Far beyond any shorty or tri-y Kleeman or Supersprint can offer.
See if your shop can make a jig so they can make more!
Good luck!

I'm definitely looking forward to the sound too!

I'll ask them about making more in the future, I'm almost sure they'll want to. I'll let you know!
how are you going to connect the primary tubes to the collector? Since you are customizing it, you could make a short collector tube right before the break where the primary cats bolt onto the downpipe. That way, you keep the original downpipes to prevent from having problems with the steering. I would weld the O2 sensors where it originally resides and get some extenders or do a tune and delete the primaries. Can't wait to see the finish headsers

I can't wait either- the job should be done next weekend- this build has me giddy!

I do know that here in the w210 AMG forum, as it relates to the Eurocharged shorties, the question of compatibility with 210's hasn't been answered yet. This is leading some of us to believe the compatibility isn't proven yet, as it has been with the w211, because they have the same shorties listed in both the 211 and the 210 forum.
I'll be hanging out at the shop tomorrow and will ask for a ballpark figure to give you guys here. Feel free to PM me here also. Stay tuned to progress here, and there on the Eurocharged thread, before making a decision.
