No more Hard reset!!!
2 GREAT things. I got the idea from the 208 section where the thread randomly died off.
#1)My biggest complaint from owning my dream car was the detuning of the car after slow periods of traffic. The adaptive transmission drove me crazy. I would do a hard reset via disconnecting the battery. I couldn't figure out why this worked so well but now I have proof. So when you do a hard reset on these cars the adaptive info is erased or "reset". When I got back into start the car I would have to recalibrate the ESP by turning the wheel right and left etc. Then when I drove it, it felt so fresh and powerful. This is due to 2 things.
1. Traction control is disabled when the car is first run after a hard reset. When the BAS, ESP, ABS warnings appear the systems needs to be calibrated via steering. But even after the lights turn off you have No traction control.
2.The other reason the car feels so strong is because our cars have torque limiters built into the ESP system to keep us from hurting ourselves and burning rubber to 3rd gear. But after a hard reset the torque limiters are also disengaged. Even when the warning lights have turned off. The key is that once you turn the car off after running it like this the systems reset and all returns to normal. Im typing this on my phone let me grab my comp.
Every time there is a fault with the ESP, the systems disengages. Bad brake switch, disconnecting ABS for dyno runs, Hard Reset.....etc. So what the op in the 208 form did was buy a 12v switch and wire it in line with the brake switch. WHENEVER the system is disabled via the switch, it seems the adaptation values on the trans go with it.
Results are simple.
1.You press the button, torque limiting is disabled COMPLETELY as is ESP and ABS. (Be Careful)
2. When you turn the car off after doing this, it's the exact same as when you do a hard reset. Restored performance!!!.
THE ONLY DOWNSIDE TO THIS MODIFICATION IS IF YOU DISENGAGE THE ESP WHILE DRIVING YOU CAN NOT TURN IT BACK ON UNTIL YOU CYCLE THE KEY, (RE-START THE CAR).

Yea, definitely a worth while mod. To reset you press the switch and start the car let it run for 20 seconds or so til all error codes show up. Disengage the switch. Then, turn the car off remove the key and wait a few seconds and start again.
There are 6 wires on the brake switch, I had to look up which one to wire the switch into. If I remember correctly it was Yellow and red wire which is the power to the ESP module.
