hi guys just a quick question, Do i need to recalibrate/reset my auto box after i change the gearbox? car was fine before change but for some reason after a put another secondhand gearbox in the car seems to drive upto like 3000-4000rpm then pulls back like its got a limiter on or summat..

glad!!! im over the moon mate its been quite a journey trying to find a gearbox for it, its becoming impossible now id say no one has got one, i got a quotation on recondition and that came to almost 1800GBP i couldnt afford that but luckily i found this secondhand box for 375GBP and 150GBP for garage labour.. so i hope this box takes me far
Prefer to perform/adapt the gearbox manually, then reset all the system via SDS, to make sure, all RPM shift points saved correctly to the ECU/TCU data/file..!

Hey, quick question, does our e55 has different gear box that regular w210? I thought they are same? no?
Yeah, all (722.6) looks identical, but the differ in the "Tq/Nm" out-put, for differ (HP) power range..

so would other gearboxes from a different engine fit onto the E55? ive actually dropped my merc off to a Mercedes specialist to have the gearbox reset only because of my problem, i put my foot down yesterday and it backed off the power again but this time the ESP light came on and i think it went into limp mode.. i hope the reset works.. im also thinking have i put a gearbox from a different engine into the car cause of the issues im having
Maybe you don't have to change your gearbox,
may have a "bad conductor plate or oil goes to your TCU or oil level NOT correct",,
have to check these first, before spending $$$$$$..!

proper box for E55 AMG is 722.636, if you bought a box for a different model say a lesser E280/E320 you will break that box with the torque from your monster engine.
box from E55 - S55 - ML55 will work on your car

ML55 had 347HP like CLK55 engine
ML55 engine can't have less torque 510NM versus C43AMG 410NM engine, this means ML55 can't have a weaker tranny than C43AMG.
w210 E55 have 530nm
CLK55/ML55 had slightly less HP/NM than E55AMG engine, this was for marketing reasons, E55 was more luxurious than the cheaper siblings.
S55AMG had 360HP and a bit more NM than E55AMG which was a lesser model than S55AMG.
the baddest a$$ was the S65AMG with 1000NM, this monster car is a different story

Ml55 got "2" differential with (3.46:1) Ratio, with two-speed dual range for transfer case with reduction gearing>> 4-ETS simulated three differential locks,,
which means; the way of power is differ than all Saloon's family..

got me car back from Merc specialist regarding the gearbox issue and it came back with nothing wrong with the box that i bought from them, they recon its the throttle body which i thought was strange as it never had that problem when the old box was in the car so im not too happy back to square one!!!
