W210 E55 new best time 11.863 ET
After getting back home from Atlanta GTG I couldn't wait to make some passes at the local track with the temperature down in the 70's. RENNtech upgraded my exhaust system and camshafts just before the Atlanta GTG and I was anxious to test the improvements on the same track I had run on before. The results were impressive though not unexpected. My buddy my401 came along and helped with video and still pictures. My first pass was in the left lane and was as follows:
R/T .118 sec.
60 ft 1.919 sec.
330 ft 5.168 sec.
1/8 mile ET 7.779 sec.
1/8 MPH 94.68
1000 ft 9.993 sec.
1/4 mile ET 11.863 sec.
1/4 MPH 120.37
Second pass six minutes later in right lane was as follows:
R/T .214 sec.
60 ft 1.944 sec.
330 ft 5.254 sec.
1/8 mile ET 7.878 sec.
1/8 MPH 94.09
1000 ft 10.107 sec.
1/4 mile ET 11.980 sec.
1/4 MPH 120.07
When I pulled up to stage in the left lane eight minutes later the guy at the starting line told me I had to slow down or stop running until I have a roll cage installed! So I took my foot off the accelerator at the 1000 ft mark and the result was as follows:
R/T .097
60 ft 1.952 sec.
330 ft 5.244 sec.
1/8 mile ET 7.870 sec.
1/8 MPH 94.09
1000 ft 10.101 sec.
1/4 mile ET 12.189 sec.
1/4 MPH 102.91
As can be seen by comparing to the previous runs this should have been another 11.975 @ 120+MPH had I not let up on the accelerator!
Having made three runs in a span of 14 minutes I stopped to let the engine cool down and 35 minutes later made a fourth run. I decided to keep it to the floor if it felt like a good launch and hold it in third gear for an increase in MPH. The results were as follows:
R/T .186 sec.
60 ft 1.989 sec.
330 ft 5.259 sec.
1/8 mile ET 7.883 sec.
1/8 MPH 93.97
1000 ft 10.115 sec.
1/4 mile ET 11.975 sec.
1/4 MPH 121.56
Once again I was told to slow down! After watching others race for another hour and a half I decided to go one more time but blew the launch with a 2.046 sec. 60 ft. time and ran a "pitiful" 12.138 @ 119.27 MPH.
All of these runs were made on my street tires, Bridgestone RE050's (285/30 x 19 rears) and 2/5 Carlsson wheels!
On a side note, for those curious about the Cayenne Turbo, I convinced my brother to go to the track with us and run his Cayenne. He posted several 13.6 ET's @ 100+MPH! I will have to get copies of his time slips for more details but we have video also.
I will be posting photos, time slips and even video as soon as I can arrange it. I wouldn't want anyone to think I'm full of BS!!

If you could get a 1.8sec 60', you'd be a no brainer for a mid 11. AWESOME!!
If it's dry tomorrow night, I might try another run, to see if I can equal this.
It would be interesting to see how your car runs in colder weather, as the SC motor seems to pick up a heck of a lot of power as the temperature drops.

Consistent 120mph trap speeds are AMAZING for a w210. That car is making some obscene power James, congrats!
It'll take more than Stage I for a W211 to catch this car, at least MPH wise!

Hartmut gave me a ride in a 6.0L supercharged ML the other day and that was just simply mind blowing!!!

Thanks guys for all the compliments! It was really a lot of fun last night. The first two runs were against a Corvette (not a Z06) and he was amazed!
As promised I have pictures and time slips posted at the following link: www.msnusers.com/ourmercedes
Look at the album for JimCan titled "Jim's W210 E55 RENNtech".

Sorry for setting the bar so high but maybe you will be inspired to climb to greater heights. Hey, how about some times for that Gallardo? Thanks again and best of luck with your W211!

video
After several Rum and Cokes under my belt. I realized that in my safe keeping is the only footage of E55 running sub 12's. The fact that I smoked my dazzle program because of the wrong power-supply. Now have to wait to post this video. I was thinking maybe this film may have some value$$$$$$$$$$.
Any Offers? :p

The proceeds will be going to a new roll cage for the E55?
p.s. Maybe we can swap some footage....the sub 12 second footage you are in possession of for all that 'pretty girl' stuff you shot for me at the Georgia GTG?

We should be making some interesting video Monday on the road course. Five cars and drivers with video cameras mounted running on a 1.8 mile track at No Problem. My E55, my brother in his M3 or Cayenne, my401 in his C32, his son in his Mitsu Evo, and his brother in his W211 E320. Should be a wild time and lots of fun!!!

Great news (for me anyway). Apparently the electric water pump for the charge cooler is faulty on my car.
By the time I hit third gear, intake charge temperatures have risen from 50C to 83C causing an estimated 50rwhp loss, which also explains my latest rather poor 115mph trap speeds.
I am already doing 1.8sec 60' and 7.7sec 1/8 mile times and have broken into 11's on Pilot Sports.
Hopefully the pump will be fixed by the weekend so I can give your time a serious shot.
I am lucky enough to be friends with an MB tech who brought over DAS tonight.
Got real time read outs of charge temperatures engine load, ignition retard, torque output etc.
According to DAS the car produces almost 940Nm (693lbft) of torque, which is consistent with the 30% rear wheel torque increase over stock seen on the dyno.

Almost 700 lb/ft of torque! That is massive, V12 territory! Good luck at the track! I am going to go again Wednesday to see what I can get away with (might only make one or two runs) under 12. That pump problem seems to be a common issue and I would advise anyone with a supercharged V8 engine that seems to have lost power to get it checked out.
