Springs

Just posting on the off chance that someone here has, or knows of some springs (Vogtland, H&R, Eibach) for sale. They are not that expensive, but never mind a deal. Cheers!

Meet too, if there is a second set out there or more my style is the oem euro springs, but also good with the above if someone comes across a second set one for me and one for OP.

Also up for performance struts, coil overs and/or air suspension setups as well!

Thanks!

Exactly Rally. I wanted the OE Euro spec springs and to ditch my 3# Pads. Thus conceivably keeping the stock shocks/struts. After looking for them for a year, I'm just onto aftermarket. I figure if it messes with the suspension, good excuse to go with the more aggressive Bilsteins.

Yea, I know they are not super expensive, but I'm in Denmark till the end of the year and am just accumulating some parts for a non daily driver. AKA I have tons of time to nitpick what I want to do and obsess over getting a deal. On a separate token I know it's been beaten to death Illest but how do you like/dislike your springs.

You can actually safely cut w210 springs. They are box springs which are ok to cut. However you must use a cutoff wheel and not a torch. The tension throughout the length of the spring is the same unlike progressive style springs.

I cut a set and have yet to install. This was my formula when I did it.

Cutting springs is a nonsense. You can get lower pads or different sets of springs. Only people with no money cut springs and don't belong to Mercedes.

I cut the spring on my old 4matic because that was the only option.

I like the vogtlands on my e55. The car sits lower but the ride did not really change, still comfortable. I did not change the shocks.

I hear you..

Just felt like chiming in because the problem with cutting springs is they are designed to carry a certain weight per coil in the spring. When you take coils away then the rest have to make up for it, providing additional stress on the material. Even unmodified springs on a W210 tend to crack when older.
Not mentioning cut springs could in theory slip on the pad and cause a major damage.

You know what? You're absolutely right I don't belong to mercedes. I own them. It sounds like you may drive one for the wrong reason? Maybe........ a small pp😂? Lol But in all seriousness it isnt the best option. But he asked and there are several members on this very forum who have bought aftermarket springs and cut coils off of them. What's your response to them? Maybe they don't belong to Mercedes either?

Our job as forum members is to share information without our bias and let people make their own decisions.

You guys also bring up good points of springs failing as well on stock setups, although climate is a big part of that as is wear and tear. If you noticed what I posted. This guy cut 3/4 a coil off which is a safer bet and not an extreme drop with combination of #1 pads. The springs wouldn't come out with that small amount removed as the spring pads have grooves in them to seat. Not to mention w210 springs are relatively long when uncompressed.

With all that said I agree to disagree with the above post. People have been cutting springs since the beginning of hot rodding automobiles. People have also bought good lowering springs with better(safer) results. But OP do what you feel it's your car!

I have seen people cut 3 plus coils off of stock springs which is a lot more unsafe than just doing 1-1.5 coils. If you cut more than one or 2 coils the ride will suffer a lot.

So I found a new set of Vougtlands that I picked up for $150 shipped. The gentleman that I bought them from has a set of Koni Yellow adjustables for our cars he offered to me. Pretty sure I'm going to pass on them. Rally or anyone else let me know if you want me to put you in touch.

I had cut H&Rs on my E55. Zero issues and it got the car sitting how I wanted it. The ride and handling were exactly the same as before they were cut. It had #1 pads as well.

I think the guy I sold the car to still has them sitting in his shop. I could see if he wants to sell them if anyone is interested.

Bull****. Pads do very little for lowering and there aren't a lot of spring options out there for a bigger drop. It was lower with the H&Rs, but I wanted more.

I am that gentleman. Here's a link to the eBay sale but would definitely sell outside of eBay. Would let them go for $320 shipped CONUS. They're dang near new!

I don't get on here much now that I'm selling my w210 but my email is benserve88@gmail.com. Feel free to hit me up. Also, if anyone could shoot me a link to where I could post a classified ad, I would very much appreciate it. I have a spring compressor for sale too for any who do their own work.
