One thing I want to plug is our plan, which is to get this car perfect for the Rally, then sell to fund the next Rally project.
With that said if anyone is watching and possibly interested in acquiring this beauty post August please PM us. And with that I wish everyone a happy Fourth of July weekend!

Got a couple things done to the vehicle over the last few days. Installed the newer steering wheel and also did a nice little muffler delete.

Car is now for sale!! Please PM for info on pricing / etc. Rally went great, car ran flawless, and finished top 10. Will be bitter sweet to see this one go, but need to pick the next car for this year's rally. Very motivated to sell!

An E55 that's been beat on a rally. That's just the car I want to buy if I was looking for one of them.
Here's my old E55 in my driveway this weekend. It's a 20' car, mechanically it's solid as ****, just needs some paint work. The owner wants too much for it.

Strigoi, thanks for your reply. While I understand your opinion on the potential for abuse in the car rally, I must argue the other side. The way I see it, the vehicle logged 3k miles over 2 days proving it is built right. I'd be more concerned looking at an E55 without maintenance records, strong ownership history, and poorly maintained. This vehicle is quite the opposite. I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car across the country and back. The new owner will have peace of mind knowing the car can handle anything thrown at it - with records to back that statement up.

IMO the first owner was never planning on selling and the only reason it was sold to a family friend was due to his unfortunate passing. The second owner worked at the same mercedes dealership the car had been serviced it’s whole time and during his purchase it was also extensively checked out by the master mechanic.
Hokie55 and I are very meticulous as to what cars we buy. And regardless of the price range we buy the “right” cars. Even with the stacks and stacks of records, we still took the vehicle in to our speciality local mechanic that is extremely educated on classic Mercedes and he went over every inch of the vehicle. Any minor items (and they were minor) he found were fixed along with the updates noted in this thread as the car had to be in oem+ shape for the rally. And while you may not have been on this rally before (if you have the time and can get in you should as it’s a blast!), but it’s not like it was nascar, or burnout after burnout or redline after redline, as much of it was just getting the car up to operating temperatures and cruising on the highway.
I would put this car up against other cars with less than half the mileage. Is it a showroom car no, but it is a damn nice car for just shy of $10k. Don’t take our word for it go see it for yourself, and do not hesitate to reach out to the OP for more details .

Koni's are on the softest setting. I tried it on stiff and it was just too much. The soft setting is perfect, feels very natural and comfortable. Compared to the original worn out suspension, it truly changed the car. Best update we did. If you desire, the adjustment knob's come with the car and can be changed on the fly.

We have a detailing partner that took care of the headlights. Typical light sanding / buffing / polishing to bring back the original look. Roughly 6 hours were spent. We looked around for a replacement set, but all were just as bad as ours. The refresh looks incredible and should last for quite a while.
