1990 190e 2.5 16v & 1997 E55 AMG
1997 E55 AMG Knocking From Front
hi all, I just registered as a new user, just bought a 1997 E55 AMG avantguard in silver with black leather. it has 47k (miles) with a full history file.
after driving it for a few weeks it seems to have developed a slight knocking noise whilst driving, it seems to be coming from the front passengers corner (its a RHD btw) only very slight but its worse over bumps, I was thinking about either the top strut mount or the anti roll bar bushes.
I wondered if these cars have any common faults at the front end that could help me with diagnosing the fault.

Hi Steve, Sorry I can't help with your Knock.
Just curious, I thought the E55 AMG first appeared in Europe as a 1998 model and the 1997 Euro model was the E50 AMG. E50 AMG never came to US. Our first E55 AMG with the 3 valve/2 plug engine appeared as a 1999 model.
Please post some pics. Love to see a 1997 E55. Thanks.
