Thanks for the link. I just turned 120k miles so I figure it’s time to replace shocks. Since I was doing that, thought I’d go to a coil over setup, and really that would be for height and perhaps better handling performance. For the most part, just trying to keep the car healthy and ready for the long haul. It’s not a DD. Just a toy I keep around and have fun with.
I missed the part of you having to use a hub ring.
Can you explain what the issue was?
I thought all of the hubs on the AMG factory wheels were 66.56mm.
I just picked up a set of 19" AMG wheels...8.5" front and 9.5" back with 39mm offset. They're forged 10 spokes.
I understand I'll need to run spacers front and rear. Not sure what thickness yet.
Planning to run a 245/35-19 front and a 285/30-19 rear.
Any advise you have is greatly appreciated...!
Been awhile since you posted this but I had 18X8.5 ET35 with 245/40 Continental tire upfront long time ago and I rubbed the upper ball joint bolt nut. I switched to a 19X8.5" ET 32 and I clear the bolt but with different tires. Granted I am not lowered, so I don't know if I can clear with those specs with out spacers.
Ive read from others that the fronts with a 8.5 in rim should work between ET 27 - ET30 all this depending on tire as well. I now run 235.
Confused on the wheel hub, I ordered a 5mm 66.6 from 42 Draft Designs and it did not fit the front hub. It cleared the rear just fine. They would not accept the return so I sold it online for a loss.
I wound up going with 10mm spacers all the way around. Phil at OtisLA sells specially made spacers that will fit the W210 front hub so that they seat correctly.
Give him a call...he can explain the difference in machining that makes it work far better than I can...LOL.
hey do you still have the factory monoblocks? I’m in FL and am interested to buy if you do.
thanks

6/10/19 Bought it from the guy around 7pm. Drove it back to the shop, changed the oil. Went to a trans service, noticed there was metal in the fluid. So it now has a rebuilt Southern Hotrod trans, mild street build. with a new MB torque converter. Car sat for 3 months, till I could save the money for the trans. It made 301whp and 310tq. 129,000 miles.
Awesome thread.. I'm paying attention.. Love the intake rig.. I was considering modifying the headlights (basically removing the highbeams) and creating a setup where the air filters would fit right into the holes, then using large tubing around each side of the motor (just like yours but on both sides) and then into a V before the throttle body. Need an extra set of junk headlights to practice/test on.. Also no sure about space on driver's side and if it's even possible.. Need to measure it out. That's the closest I can think of for unrestricted ram-air. Not sure if I'm willing to sacrifice the high-beams for that though, which again is why I need a junk set to test on..
Did you crack the old intake manifold open to see what kind of gunk/buildup was in there? What was the price of the new intake manifold and where'd you source it from?
How did you solve tire rubbing on front top suspension nut? Usually anything wider that pushes tire inward more than OEM 8" rim width & et32 offset is very difficult to fit.

it barely barely rubs, I am sure some tires may be different than others I am running P Zeros. It didn’t even leave a mark on the tire, but just barely polished the nut on the control arm, I can’t tell at all while drive.

looking really good and glad this thread is still going. I just got done with 15 hrs of paint restoration. Clay bar along with Compounded entire car. Then did Turtle Wax black polish followed by 2 coats of Mother's CMX Ceramic.
Has anyone installed the H&R sway bars, and if so are you happy with them?

I’ve done the front! Loved it. The rear is the same size as stock, HR claims the factory rear E55 sway bar is hollow, but I have seen where Mercedes said many times it isn’t hollow. Don’t waste your money with the rear.
Also check out AleksRacing.com he has strut bars and braces from ultra racing, super fast shipping

Did you paint the visors, handles, sunroof controls?
I did, used Duplicolor, vinyl&fabric paint. The visors came out much darker, I was looking at using cls63 visors but they are an inch to big. I am looking at getting clk63/55 w209 visors. But I am very happy with the color of the handles and other trim pieces.
