Petit restoration

Its time to give my 99 E55 with 130,000km some TLC. I have had it for 8 years and 50,000km. My daily driver that let me down only once when the bleed nipple at the top of the radiator broke off. I recently parked it after getting my 01 Audi RS4 on the road. The RS4 is a fantastic car but doesnt have the je ne sais quoi of the E55.

The list includes: oil and filter change, rear main seal, transmission service, brake fluid change, dash crack repair, driver seat cushion leather repair and re-coloured. Funds permitting Id like to get the rear bumper repaired too.

A strange noise from the steering rack turned out to be socket I dropped back when.

I dropped the transmission today. The sound dampening material fell and was chewed by the driveshaft damper. Think I can put some new aftermarket stuff in there.

Je suis desolete. I called it a day at 8pm, plenty dark out. I wasted half the day running from store to store looking for a new torx set. Finally got into it around 4pm. Minus 1.5 hours for cooking and eating dinner 3.5 hours is not bad.
I'll get some photos tomorrow at day light before work.

Looks like the transmission front seal was leaking too.

I read somewhere it's possible to do this job without draining the atf. Don't believe if.
Drain as much as you can including the TC if possible. I believe/ hope the jostling dislodged the filter from the VB.
I couldn't remember the last time I did a transmission service but I guess it's due, because the fluid was just between red and brown. I only covered max 40,000km since that last service but it was a lot of city driving. The dealer told me this car takes slightly different atf than the E320 and the dealer isn't that much more expensive than other retailers so I ordered the atf, filter and connector from the dealer. $500 thank you very much, for a car I'm not even driving. Try explain that to the wife.

When driving I started to hear a ticking noise from 20kph. Inspection found this around the hanger bearing. Is it a going to cause a problem?
