Multiple front crank seals?

The dampener pulley and front crank seal were just replaced on my car. The mechanic noted that there were two seals in place, which he replaced with one. On the way home, I started significantly leaking oil from the front crank seal area. Was some kind of spacer potentially left out? Is the two seal approach something that is commonly taken?

Old pulley failed. I guess it would be good preventive maintenance to change. It's expensive, glad it happened at the house. I have 110k on it. I know on heavy duty trucks recommended changing damper at 400k-500k
