Pricing Xpel...

Planning on getting Xpel 3M front bumper and headlight protection...MB dealer quoting $800-$900...I called the installer directly w/o mentioning referral from MB...$525-$575 installed...go figure.

It's funny...When I asked about the Xpel protection from parts and service department, they referred me to the FINANCE department because "...they are the one's that set it up..."

Someone's padding the MSRP...

Get a look at the installer' work before you do it. I have seen some really good ones and some really bad ones. The two best installers that I know of are in Atlanta and Boca Raton. I had the guy in Boca do my M3 and my E55 just last week. When the dealer saw his work, he signed him up. My nextdoor neighbor owns a MB dealership as well and was REALLY impressed with how good of a job this guy did. Definitely check out some past work of this guy.

Cheaper is not always better. Like other have said, you need to take a look into the installer's ability to work the material.

Also, ask him to custom cut several pieces for the following area. 1. A pillar.
2. Rear trunk opening area. 3. the area right before the sunroof.

Trust me on this. you will need these 3 pieces as well.

don't get your car polished. That would create too slick of a surface. Just go wash your car 1st (hand wash of course). Then use a 3m cleaner (should be available at any automotive store- not paint stripper, just cleaner) to clean the pain surface to remove extra grease or any junk on your paint surfaces.

the surface must be spot less.

My schedule is the limiting factor on that one Elboricua...I will ask for some references from the installer, though. I will keep you posted.

Any decent installer will do all the prep work necessary on your paint, including clay bar.
