Not so fast. Different cross members resulted in different oil pans and different oil pump pickups. Multiple posts on this if one searches. A '99 to '02 W210 E55 engine would be a direct bolt in. I have a spare engine and transmission sitting in my garage just in case. Purchased it years ago as insurance.

2000 (W202 C200) & 2000 (W202 C55)
As i remember;

99-02 "W210 E55" & 99-05 "W163 ML55" sharing the same Engine,
the only difference with Ex. manifolds & Engine mounts with brackets,,

you can swap out Ex. manifolds & Engine mounts with brackets from "E55" to "ML55" Engine, that's all..
