99 E55 project
Just pick up this 99 E55 that needs lots of work. Think I’m going to save her and make a daily out of her.
sad to see them in this shape. It’s a 1 owner car.

The only great thing about W210 E55 is the engine and transmission, everything else like body panels are less good.
Can you post a photo of your rusty trunk?
All the hidden rust will be a treat to discover.
Are you willing to spend a fortune of money on this car?

I gave the car a good look over since I bought it sight unseen. Interior cleaned up nicely. I changed the engine oil and transmission fluid. Besides the rust she is a good starting point. It needs lower ball joint’s, break line, hood release cable, and breaks. The other major issues besides the rust is the car has no cats or monoblocks. I’ll post some pics up later.

The racing stripes are cool, along with the quick release rear bumper.
Enjoy the project, like you said, could be fun just to put the miles on it instead of the rest of your good-looking fleet. Best,

The racing stripes is tape holding the hood shut. I replaced the cable yesterday so there gone now. The quick release bumper will be fixed once
i decide what im doing with the body. im also considering swapping the engine to a E430 4matic.

Picked up a set of Carlson 1/6 Evo today. Not sure if they will make it on this car or on one of the others and this one will get a set of monoblocks.

Last month I saw a low mileage 2001 E55 in Cali listed for $44k.
Here's a 2000 E55 originally listed for $30k now at $25k:
Used 2000 Mercedes-Benz E 55 AMG Sedan for sale in Portland, OR 97232: Sedan Details - 658489110 - Autotrader

man, for $1000, you can't go wrong. even as is, you've got a whole spare drive train and could part out the interior to net 0 on the whole thing if the rust ends up being worse than expected.
Still, saving one of these is better than scrapping it. Even if it's got rattle can primer over rust fixes...it's still a thoroughbred AMG.

People keep telling me to sell mine and get the W211 e55 but I don't want all the stupid issues the w211 has.
The M113 is a gem. The simple w210 suspension is best I've experienced.
I'll probably never sell my W210. Definitely the most reliable and practical car I've ever owned.

Gut it and sell off the parts and make it a Lemons car. https://24hoursoflemons.com/
You'll crush the competition with it and have a blast doing it.

I’m definitely not sell it or parting it out. I will restore it and use it as a driver. Got the Carlsson refurbished.

If the frame isn't rusted then you should be fine. Safety first.
Happily the W210 E55 shares most body panels with the regular cars so getting used parts shouldn't be too difficult.
I had a set of 1/6 on my w210 E320 many moons ago. Hated them. The ride was way too hard. IMHO the OEM AMG mono blocks or other AGM 18" wheels with 40 series tires give the best overall ride and performance.

I mean, it's the same motor, so I don't see why it wouldn't work...I'm not sure about mounts, etc. but overall, should be fine. However, this is someone else's thread...

From my understanding Benz threw the same engine and transmission into dozens of cars. The internet is filled with engine swaps not even Benz envisioned so same year engine should bolt right in.
