Loose Steering + Steering Vibration at 45-50 MPH

Hey everyone,

I've got a 2000 E55 Wagon, approx. 101k kms.

I've done a bunch of reading, and this post was super helpful:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w210-amg/...iles-hour.html

I've got both A) the vibration at 40-45 MPH, when the car is cold it's most pronounced, and b) I've got really loose / tramline steering (noticeable above 30-40MPH).
I'm not sure if these are related, or I'm just lucky and have 2 separate issues at the same time.

I'm going to get the rear subframe mounts replaced (haven't checked yet but guessing its worth a shot), and new rear tires. Is there anything else that I should get done at the same time, in case the vibration isn't this issue (and to save on labour and future headaches)? I've seen that it could also be a rear propeller shaft/driveshaft issue as well, so I'll look at that too.

I've already replaced:
  • Front upper and lower control arms
  • Front ball joints
  • Front tie rods
  • Front dampers (bilsteins)
  • Front sway bars and links and bushes
  • New front tires
  • Engine and transmission mounts seem to be okay and replaced before I got it

This is also a great thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w210-amg/...-bushings.html

Doing some research, the 4 subframe mounts/bushes for e55s have these part numbers:
2103507408
2103507508

But it looks like the second part is discontinued: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...507508#fitment

Anyone found them recently, or know the difference between these and the regular w210 parts?

Not a problem with the Servotronic? It is supposed to adjust the sensitivity of steering input depending on speed.
I think E55 rear bushings have more solid rubber, to take that extra torque compared to rest of the W210s. I actually recently ordered new bushings for my rear subframe and my delar said 2103507508 (which was a kit for both sides) is now replaced with:2x A 210 351 12 42 – bushings around 90 USD/piece

2x N 009021 013203 – washers 2 USD/piece

2x A 202 990 05 04 – bolts 7 USD/piece

Tires? My E55 with worn tires will tramline pretty bad. Also, some performance tires will take a set when cold and take a while to work out the set. My current tires will do that if they have been setting for a day or more. Drive for a while and all is well.

Watching this thread as well...mine has that steering wobble at exactly 45mph as well..two shops could not find the culprit. Now, I do have a bent rear wheel that I was just advised of. But i dont think that would be causing this issue that strongly in steering wheel? Maybe Im wrong.

Just coming back here with my follow-up. Shop replaced the rear tires, and that helped a bit, but the vibration is still there, and the light steering is still there.

I've got the rear mounts to do, and will see if that helps.

I'm also looking into the servotronic to see if that's the issue with the light steering.
