Hmm, this does not surprize me at all. A friend of mine bought a 2001 E46 M3 when they came out and after only 4,000 miles the motor went south. Sounds like BMW's quality has also gone south. Thats why I drive my E55 with a smile

As a long time BMW owner (30 years) I think I qualify to discuss their motor problems. I can recall vividly the 7 series with their 12 cyl. motor that was a total piece of garbage the first couple of years. Same exact problem with their first 8 cyl. motors with their "silent recall" where motors were replaced. M3's motors also had big problems. NOW they expect people to plunk down 80k for a car with a new 10 cyl. motor??
Any person who buys an M5 in the first year of production with this new 10 cyl. motor, knowing BMW's history with new motors, is mentally deranged. Even if I could stand the new design, which I can't, I would not be so foolish as to take a chance with this motor in the first year of production when the track record is a zero.

SL 65 AMG and E63s AMG
My wife had a 2002 M3 which went thru 2 motors in 6 mos. The dealer traded the car back to BMW for $5000 after one year of owenership. Have had 2003 since with no problems (enginewise). Piece of junk IMO. My wife loves the car.

Well, MB also have their share of reliability issues too. I don't think you can have German engineering and reliable in the same sentence ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
As for the M6, I think it's going to be a sweet car is you are looking for a all around performace coupe. here are some more picture of it:

I would consider M6 as my daily ride, as long as it is priced right, I like it over the m5! But i bet in Canada it will try to compete with CL55 price range !

Granted, the M6 may be a better track performer, but the track isn't your daily drive. Plus, the price point that the CLS55 hits is similar to the M6 compared to the CL55.

Just like I posted on how you have to break in the m3's engine or they will blow up.BMW says not to rev past 5k for the first 1200 miles and then they change the special break in oil to normal oil.
You can see him red lining that car in the vids. This is an F1 engine with crazzy compression.....comon sense is to break it in slowy

I don't like the Bungled 5, but I sure like that 6. The problem is the back seat is for looks (none of my friends are under four feet tall). If I'm not worried about using the back seat for adults, I'd get a 911.

EXACTLY!!! Why get a 645 with no back seat when you can get a 911 with no back seat? No comparison. Everything the 645 does, the 911 does better with better resale and better reliability. Now.........get a picture of the side view of a 645 and place your finger over the Bangle hump and what do you see? A 911 copy.

Yeah, the 911 is better at everything except cruising comfort. They are not even in the same category. The 911 is a sports car while the 645 is a GT. it compares better with a MB CL500 or Auston Martin DB9.
