The airboxes are the 2 black plastic rectangular boxes. There is one on each side of the engine and is covered with that beige/gold plastic. Each rectangular box has 6 Torx screws (I am pretty sure its six on each side) holding them on.

Removing is really easy...

1) Unscrew the 12 Torx screws from each side. They are really long and take some effort.

2) Remove the metal clamps from the air intake tubes that run from the airbox to the throttlebody. These are really tricky to remove.. I used a good pair of pliers. To remove them, you squeeze the top connector on the clamp together and lift up with a flathead screwdriver. It's really hard to describe this clamp... but... have a good look at the top side and you'll understand what I am trying to say.

3) The plastic airboxes themselves are held down onto the engine compartment by 2 snap-on connectors.. Just pull up and they will come off. You can see a pic of the connector in my photo below.

Here is a picture of the engine with those covers removed and the air filters exposed.. This is PeterB's car:

Here is a pic of my airbox after I applied the thermotec wrapping:

Before wrapping, air boxes were really hot to the touch after driving. Noticeably cooler now... I didnt get a chance to run Datalogging on it before wrapping, so I cant give you a quantitative delta on IAT, but I do notice the car is more consistent now.

I also have the EVO intake spacers on there too, so together these things must help.

I hate to bring up older threads, but I have to ask. Do people do the lid of the airbox, or just the bottom? I did the bottom only.
