Gas is a blast
Gas is a blast
Had another day of tuning with my NOS E-55....ordered and installed LM-1 A/F analyzer from Innovate Motorsports this AM. Was interested in being able to "see" the A/F ratios while spraying. Topped up with 114 unleaded and off to the races. There is nothing like gas.....I have an Escort/Passport G meter which has a program for horsepower...its amazingly accurate both in ET's/MPH/HP. Without nitrous my best "crank" HP was 511 which is probably pretty close using an average dyno WRHP of 420 or so and assuming 17-18% loss. With dual .026 jets the peak was 570...I'm a little leery in going to .030's but this should take it very close to 600. There's a TX 2003 E-55 running dual .031 that's making just over 600 crank HP...he currently has low ET at dragtimes.com. for E-55's.
Later this afternoon I met a young man about 35 at Books a Million with an M-5 2004 with Dinan out the wazoo...claimed it was making "well over 500 HP" ......we talked and he commented on my E-55 and mentioned how he had "smoked an S55"....blah,blah,blah. I told him that the E-55's were a bit faster and wondered if he would like to "smoke" me...he laughed and said sure. Off we headed to a rural highway with about a 1 mile straight. From about a 10 mph roll we hit it.....I jumped out about a car length and maintained to about 90, he then began to make some ground and then I pushed the "button"...I put about 5 lengths on him quick and shut down at about 125. He could not believe he lost and began to explain how his car needed to be "re-evaluated" and that he was going to call Dinan on first thing Mon. Said he'd spent more than ten grand on upgrades...he was not happy....never mentioned the gas.
It doesn't get any better than that.....long live the supercharged E's...Gray

Great kill indeed! And as usual, here come the excuses. It seems that whenever someone who thought they had the upper hand loses, all the sudden theres something wrong with their car(LOL), like you only won because you were lucky. What a bunch of BS. Nice job teaching him a lesson he wont soon forget.
