Head of Mercedes-Benz Eckhard Cordes: "A systematic approach to quality"
Stuttgart, Mar 31, 2005
With a worldwide recall Mercedes-Benz is improving the quality of passenger cars already in the field. With this measure the head of Mercedes-Benz, Dr. Eckhard Cordes, is adding emphasis to his quality initiative: "We are now producing the best product quality ever and our aim is to ensure that those vehicles in the hands of customers which are the cause of complaints achieve a standard of quality that reflects our highest expectations."
On vehicles with six and eight-cylinder petrol engines built between June 2001 and November 2004 the voltage regulator in the alternator is being checked and if necessary replaced. On E-Class and CLS-Class models made from January 2002 to January 2005, new battery control unit software is to enhance the on-board power supply. In addition, the braking systems on the current E-Class, SL-Class and CLS-Class models from the production period June 2001 to March 2005 are also to be updated.
Customers are being informed in writing. Mercedes-Benz has set up a special hotline to answer customers' questions:

2009 C63 Black on Black
Does that mean a second brake recall for me?
If this is correct, Since I have allready had one brake recall I guess I'm going to get a second one too!!! Only problem is that after the 1st brake recall I had a "Dead" battery and had to have it replaced. Hopefully not again!

I saw this on CNN Daybreak just now...I knew it was just a matter of time that Mercedes would do some sort of major recall on the SBC brakes. If I'm not mistaken, this is the 2nd recall on the SBC brakes.
My car is still in the shop, and will inquire more about recall.

This is not a April Fool Post right?
At first I thought this a April Fool Post, looks like it is for real, on the top of the forum, someone post a full article from Wall Street Journal...chk that out too.

Stopped by the dealership today to day hello to buddy who is the Service Manager and he had no idea about any new recall on my E55 other then the brake recall we did several months ago. His advice was to just hammer your car and have fun and do not worry about it. He took my car for a spin again since he loves the Kleemann K2 mod and the car lost traction at every shift. He had a big smile on his face and said this is the way the car should be in its stock form. He did say I need a LSD ASAP

Give Harris @ Harton Motorwerks a call who is also a sponsor. If you do a search on OEM AMG LSD it will be very informative.

To 04E55 AMG, I notice that you have the Kleeman Stage 2 modification. Did you also get the Kleemann LSD? If so, how has it performed.? I am planning on installing one of my 05 AMG due in in about two weeks, and understand that it will, by itself, reduce the 0-60 time by about .3 seconds. (I am also getting a Stage 1 modification.)

The service advisor I talked to said there was nothing in the system showing a recent recall for the E55. He said he's been bombarded with calls from customers regarding the articles in the news, but no official word from MBUSA.

If you can afford it, I would get the Stage 2 (headers make a huge difference and the sound is AWESOME). I did not get the Kleemann LSD since I am waiting on my OEM AMG LSD. I may have Kleemann tweak it to 60% like they are with the SL65 (AMG LSD has a 30% lockup). A good buddy of mine has the K1 and the LSD and he has noticed a huge improvement in straight line traction.
Alex may want to clarify more
