First time taking her up to high speed....round 150mph

Why would you expect anything else, but WOW....what a car!

First the disclaimer.....empty stretch of highway....clear morning with no even a hint of breeze. Not a single car so I would be the only idiot killed in case of any failure, human or mechanical.

Okay, I decide to go for it real quick....just to see what she feels like so at around 60 I punch it......funny what happened.

Thought I would get around 125-130 and then slow down. I am so focused on the road ahead (keeping perfectly still....of course watching for any other vehicles and cops), didn't keep my eyes on the speedo, til I felt that (holy crap I am cranking feeling)....peek down ... 1 5 0....

What scared and excited me the most is how smooth it was at 150....like you were doing 80-90 or something. AMG Aero totally takes over past 120 and she just sits down and smooths on out.

Don't think I would ever have the b a l l s to take er up over 150....anyone ever.

Ahhh, the Beast, turning the morning bagel drive into a over 2 mile a minute rush!!!!!

Who needs morning coffee when you can look down and see 150? I got a rush just reading your post.

My best is 160. Same as Jackpro, empty road no other traffic. I have a few roads I'll try this on and will usually make a few "passes" to check for traffic and cops (stretches of roads where no one else can turn onto the road), make a u-turn and go! It is amazing the difference in sensation once you go above 130.

Another thing I like to do is find long stretches where there is no one around me and play "catch up". See a car way up ahead and floor it. Figured if there were any cops ahead i'd see their break lights or my radar/laser would go off. A couple of weeks ago I see a car way ahead so I floor it. I hit about 140 (again, between exit ramps so no danger of someone else being involved). This only last for a few seconds (you catch up to people pretty quickly) so I slow down doing about 80 when I see the car in question about a 1/4 or so in front of me. "Wow, that looks like a cop!" I say to myself. Sure enough, it was a marked state trooper with no lights on his roof. I stay behind a way, but I wonder if he noticed this bullet approaching from several miles back! I'm in the right lane, he's in the left. He pulls into the right ahead of me and signals to get off at the next exit. He gets off and I floor it. As i'm going past the on ramp I say to myself, "watch, he's going to get right back on". By this time i'm gone. I slow down to 80 and sure enough I see that same sight in my rearview mirror. I take my foot off the gas and slow to about 65. He pulls right up next to me and stayed door to door for what seemed like forever! I didn't even look over. He knew I was messing around and was definitely sending a message. He was ahead of me, gets off and back on, and i'm no where to be seen until he caught up.

Jackpro, the car is solid at these speeds but be careful. We're going away in cuffs if we ever caught at these speeds!

With our cars chipped we top out at 187! I couln't imagine another 25 or so MPH. Like I said, 130 actually feels pretty pedestrain. Go above and things take on a whole different perspective.

Save it for the track

Very true. And for a long time, too, if anyone gets killed -- which is certainly a possibility, no matter how many times you check for other traffic.

Like I said. Only done in areas either where there is NO access to the road i'm on or in between on/off ramps. I don't street race and I don't weave in and out of traffic, more dangerous and a lot more common than what I occasionally do. The only one that could get hurt is me. These "blasts" also last no longer than a few seconds.

I've done 310km once with the speed limiter removed of course and several 280km, the car actually feels suprisingly steady, much much better than I expected! ...without a big *** wing, or an advance underbody aero dynamics like the ones on the ferrari....man, AMG Rocks!!

155 white nuckle miles per hour... crisp cold February morning. Empty newly resurfaced highway, 10 mile perfectly flat straightaway.

All I could think of was one of my favorite lines from Clint Eastwoods mid 80's movie "Firefox"... He hits the throttle in his stolen Russian stealth fighter passes through mach 4 and whispers..."What a machine..."
