E55 Wagon - yes, wagon
I am new to the forum and am buying an E55 Wagon this weekend. Are there any people on the forum that have driven the AMG wagon? There might not be many who have actually driven one, as I have heard that there are very, very few in this country. I have driven it and it's absolutely fantastic. I just wanted to gain the perspective of others who have experienced it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I drive a E55T, SLK55 and 65 Mustang Conv.
Hi there,
I have mine on order due top arrive 5/8 and cannot wait! My husband did drive one and all he could say about it was WOW! The way I figure it is that once we have the Beast in the garage it'll be "no dear, YOU drive the SLK55".

We now have 4500 miles on ours and we still love it! The car rocks! Just got back from a long weekend and it was the talk every place we stopped. Dusted off an M5 on the way back. I will not be passed on an open road.......
You will love the car!

Weird desire to humiliate everyone
The only problem with driving an E55 wagon is the weird desire to humiliate everyone you meet. No one suspects anything and the look on their faces when you blow past them is priceless.
I think the ride and handling is better than my 2004 E55 sedan. Only have 1,200 miles on mine.

I know WAGONS, and 99% of the time they handle better and are possibly Quicker than the sedan counterpart. wish I had known there was a wagon then I could claim it was "practical"

The following is a link to a German video that shows the E55 Wagon in action. Be sure to paste the entire link in your browser or it won't load.

I also have a few really great photos of the car, which I think originally came from Mercedes-Benz. Because I am new to the forum, I do not know how to load them so that everyone can see them. I tried clicking on the "insert image" icon on my reply screen and am not able to figure out what to do with the IMG prompt. The photos I have are relatively large file-size JPEGs (>1.5 mb) so maybe they won't load anyway.
Thanks for the help.

Mrs. Wolf,
I'm sorry I forgot to tell you, but I recently saw another very interesting wagon at the Beverly Hills Mercedes-Benz dealership on Beverly Drive. On Sunday I attended their Classics for Charity Car Show, and as I was driving the car into their garage on Saturday to leave my car overnight, I saw a black on black E55 wagon with the new 19" Type III AMG wheels (the one with the bolts around the lips) that had just been installed. Sorry to all that I couldn't take a picture (no camera) but I'm sure its in the showroom by now if anybody wants to drop in and check it out.

If I had an E 55 wagon, I'd pull off all the badging and just love to see all the jaws drop when a station wagon blows off vetts and other supposedly fast cars......
I'm so glad that they decided to sell the E 55 wagon here in the USA!!

My first two weeks of ownership...
OMG
This car is so freakin' bad ***! Today, I blew the doors off a 993 Carrera who then acknowledged "when I saw the "V8" I knew I was in trouble".
In this car, the only dropped jaws are from car people...it's got that stealthiness about it... until people get to the side emblems (the confused look starts to dawn on their faces) and then they walk around to the rear and then this
look.
All I do is
So far...I put on clear corner lenses, flat hood emblem, and "big star" grill. Those three minute details transform the car incredibly. Will post pics when the car is clean.
Next is..ordering up my HREs this week and scheduling the Kleemann stage 3 w/LSD install. I'm sick over this car..

hhmm ive always taken off the badges..
I seem to think that its all about taking the badges off. I use to have an S55 and looked great with out them. My current Cayenne T has nothing in the back and looks awsome... I think im gonna drive mine for a month and see if it looks better with or with out...... Im just so happy that people are finally getting the wagon concept in America.. LOL pretty soon well have the Magnum SRT 8, and im sure the RS6 Avant and the M5 wagon are being considered... should be interesting.
I take them all off
I have the dealer remove the badges from all my cars. Even my diesel is debadged, because people see diesel and think smelly and slow and go crazy trying to pass you (I do the same thing when I see an older diesel Mercedes).
I have done it myself and it is not hard if you take your time. It works a little better if you leave the car in the sunshine for a little while. Some people use a credit card to lift the edge of the letters, I just use a needle nose pliers very carefully to get things started. If you pull slowly, everything comes off, tape and all, very cleanly. Sometimes you need to use goof off to remove the little bits of tape left behind.

No RS6 Wagon for now
I currently have an S6 Avant - I inquired whether Audi was going to bring another high performance Avant into this country, either S or RS. As of right now, there are no plans. It is not even clear to me when the normally aspirated V8 powered wagon will arrive. Initially Audi will bring only 6 cylinder Avants.

my brother has an S6 Avant too...
once I told him about my car and showed him the video of that guy thrashing it around on the track...his emailed response went something like this..."No fair! why don't you give that car to me until you decide to have kids. I promise I'll take good care of it."
BB, being an Audi owner too, I can only tell you that this UberWagon will blow the doors off your S6. Be prepared to love it alot!
