Does anyone know if the early build (or any for that matter) '05's come with the same center consoles as the '03/'04 models? I prefer the look of the earlier consoles to the 'updated' version in the current build cars. Thanks for any info.

Mine was an October build 05 and it has the new console. It really isn't that bad though and is comfortable to rest my arm on.

Ive noticed sale ads for what are suppose to be '05's with the 'old' center console. I just wish my car would show up, the wait is getting old....then I wouldnt have to worry about it lol

You are going to get the new console. Only a few very very early build 2005 E's recieved the old console.

For all the fuss here, I really like the new console. I drove a 2003 E500 as a loaner for a week before my E55 arrived and I definitely prefer the new style.

I have a July 21 build and it has the old console. I think it changed in mid Aug?

The new one, in my opinion, is totally uncomfortable. I am considering not getting another E-class until they fix it. It kills my elbow when I rest my arm on it. I am hoping they will change it, or else I will keep my current E55 and just get an CLS because the arm rest is more comfortable.
Just my 2 cents.

I would offer a body shop or a tuner to switch out the arm rest if anybody can tell me who can get that done for me.

The old one is much nicer looking, but it sometimes opens by itself when I rest my elbow on it. To open the top section, you press on the piece very close to the edge where your elbow would rest normally. It can be very annoying.
