the part??? get some washers from home depot. if you're talking about the extended link arms, you'll have to ask cutter.

i actually machined all my washers to 1mm specs to make sure i was perfectly even from side to side but you don't have to be that ****. i also used a thinner non-flanged nut so that ALL the threads came in contact with the bolt and then locktited for extra security. for the rear i just slotted the holes where the rear sensor bolts on.

any cheap washers will do, just measure your washer stacks so they're even for each side. the back won't cost you a thing if you already have a drill or dremmel. the fronts will take 5 minutes and the rear will take you longer to put the car on jack stands than it will to relocate the sensor.

Does this apply to E320s with airmatic suspension as well? All sport edition W211 have airmatic correct?

Its all about 'fooling' the sensors, so it will apply to any airmatic system with sensors.

It actually even applies to other brands that use similar systems.

III II I I AMG,

Where did you have it done?

Are most of you guys doing this yourself or by a mechanic?

I have a lowering kit that is safer and more precise than washers from Altered Atmosphere Motor Sports out of Maryland. I had it on my car before I got the Renntech module. It cost me about $250.00 It has instructions and has machined spacers from Aluminum. Took me about 45 minutes to easily install.
If you're interested in it, shoot me an email.

Will I lower it to much?

I just changed my front tires from 245/40/18 to 255/35/18 which is a .7 inch difference if i lower the car with the washers another .5 inch will there be a problem if i dont lower the rear as well? Will the car slant forward to much? Will this be a problem with the handling if the all the weight move forward.

No problem with that sizing. If you only lower the front, then you will get rake. Some l;ike it and some don't. As far as performance, we already have front heavy rides. Leaning it forward will hurt in handling, but may help in traction by allowing the suspension compression to absorb some stress.

I do not know if the actual pieces fit on both cars, but the same strategy of moving the sensor to fool the elm is the same on e55 and s55.

Thumbs up

Just completed this mod. I did the front and back at the same time. It must be the best bang for the buck mod I have ever done.

Well... since this mod is pretty old along with this thread, how many failures have there been reported?

Really tempted, but still thinking to have a tech do it with Star.

Failure will only occur if the bolts come lose, done correctly that wont happen.Very easy mod if done correctly.Renntech ELm still the best choice but this a decent back up deal.

That MAY not be true. Both my front airmatic struts failed at 3.5years. I had the washers inplace for a modest drop for about 18months beforehand. The tech said nothing about the washers. He said an 'internal seal' failed.
My feeling is that there is always a risk that some mod., any mod., may have unexpected consequences. So be it.

So your failure was due to the washer mod?

Who knows?
I'm just making the point that it could have been related and that no mod is without 'risk'.
