New Audi RS6.....550hp.

So that makes the tally

Audi RS6 V10.............550hp
M5 v10 ................. 500hp
E55 with new N/A V8....?????

We've beat that question to death....really just wanted to chime in with new RS6 numbers.

from Autoweek

Audi has made little effort to hide its upcoming BMW M5 fighter, the RS6. We caught it testing at the Nürbur-gring, which means Audi will likely pull the wraps off soon. Right now we know the RS6 will sport similar RS styling cues as seen on the RS4. Like the M5, the RS6 uses a V10 engine displacing about 5.5 liters and producing 550 horsepower.

The tamer S6 will also receive a V10, around 5.2 liters and 440 horsepower. We expect Audi to offer both six-speed automatic and seven-speed direct-shift gearboxes.

i agree that the new grille on the AUDI are so freakin' ugly. i think the older model's grille was sooo much better. but 550hp will make it very interesting. anyone know hp on new e55 or is it e63?

I don't care how much hp it has...I don't want to drive a car that has a grill like a sperm whale.

Why would anyone buy an Audi when you can get a Benz for a couple bucks more?

From the looks of it, we'll no longer be the most powerful. But at least we'll be the prettiest.

Whoa...From my understanding, the MSRP of the old RS6 was more than the MSRP of the E55? The E55 was considered the more bang for the buck head to head with the RS6.

I agree...in '03 and '04 the RS6 was as expensive and, when it first released, a few $k more expensive.

A member on this board was a former RS6 owner with mods and could not keep up with a stock E55. The E55 would just pull away so he sold the RS6 for a E55. btw- he took a bath when he sold the RS6. I now from experience that a Audi can not keep its value.

That AWD makes the car slower.

Well if I was forced at gunpoint to drive one,

I'd at least remove any front plate and paint the "bar" the same color as the body. It's a lot better looking than that Bangle thing.

This pic of the silver one looks better IMO. What is that AMG engine though? All that carbon fiber and a 7.0? What am I missing here...?

Don't get confused that was just his signature picture - engine from the back of a CLK-GTR I think.

That IS the RS6. Not sure what the blue one was, but it wasn't an RS6. Maybe a standard 6? Silver looks better but resale SUCKS worse than Saab. Never owned one but have buddies who have regretted owning them. Not one EVER bought another. I considered an S4 for about 2.5 seconds at one time in the past...

what are the troque numbers for that RS6?

E55 with new N/A V8 will make around 500hp, a little less or a little more. last time I heard was 496 i think...

the new V8 will actually have 4 different outputs (most of you know this already). first one is in the bi-turbo in S, SL and CL (more than 550hp i think). then comes the most powerful NA in E, CLS, ML and R (around 500). CLK's 6.3L NA V8 will make decent power (i think more than 450) then C's new N/A V8 makes the least power (close to 450).

with that being said, i think i am facing a tough decision like the C32 and C55. would most of you guys buy the new NA V8 or stay with the SC V8?

My vote is go with the SC V8. When you get bored spend a few $$$ and you are in stock 65 range. With a few mod's you will have a car that will have much more power & torque no matter what MB puts out in the next few years. My guess is that trying to mod a NA V8 will not be as great.

thanks. this is the kind of debate i was going through and your input was really helpful. i guess its always easier to make a FI car go faster than putting FI or bolt ons to a NA car.
afterall, if the new E63 will really have around 500hp then its not that hard to make the current E55 reach this range anyway.

Glad to help The current E55 already is in the 500HP range. With basic bolt ons (Kleemann K2) I am pushing close to 600HP and 650 Torque and the car is just as much a daily driver as stock. I drove my E55 stock for about 16 months. The big difference is that I can go to the track and run 1/4 times in the 11's and 0-60 times in the 3's
