For all you Drag Radial guys
I just bought a set of Toyo RA1's. This is their road race tire with the same compound as their DR. It has a stiffer side wall so you can actuall use them every day without the car walking all over the place. I took the car to the track the other day for the first time with these tires. This track is a piece of crap and is known to have starting line troubles. I made two passes back to back (car was over 100deg c) without a cool down. The tires with 38psi hooked up perfect on both passes, a 1.78 60' on both runs. I didn't get to mess around too much or let the car cool down and try to better those numbers. I was kicked out after the second run because I didn't have a helmet. I would recommend these tires to anyone considering DR. I use this car as a daily driver and they work perfect on the street.

It has a full tread depth of 8/32. Same as any other tire I think. I'm not running them on all four yet. I will probably switch the fronts out to this tire later, I still have tons of tread on the fronts. I would imagine that the cornering would be worlds better with these tires on the front, just based off how much traction I get to the rears now. It really is a great tire. I was dead set on buying a drag radial until my tire shop told me about these tires. No regrets at all.

Peter, I don't think they have 19's yet and not sure if they will. Mine are the 18" 275's for the rear. Derek, the MT street radial is a great tire. If you can get a size that will work on your car, that's the tire to go with for all out drag racing. I use my car as a daily driver and just couldn't live with changing wheels or the sloppy feel of the DR's on the street for everyday use.

Why in the hell doesn't some company come out with a 19" drag radial yet? I for one would be one of their first customers.

2005 Kleemann Stage 3 E55
They don't make a 19" RA1. You can have them shaved for better perfornance (stock tires are used as rain tires on the track) however having them shaved = death wish if it rains. Once you add a lot more hp, the BFG's work better than the RA1's off the line.
Here is what has been in my garage:
4 stock conti's on stock rim's
8 19" Bridgestone S03 on OZ wheels
4 S03's on Kleemann wheels
12 18" PS2 on stock wheels
4 Toyo RA1's
2 BFG drag radials
6 PS2 on 19" wheels
The PS2's hook up the best but cost the most. The toyo's make stuff brake on the track (because they hook up better) and are deadly wicked when it rains.
PS Car has high horsepower so factor that into the equation

I would assume he means of the true street tires. I had the PS2's and they don't compare to the BFG DR or Toyo RA-1. The BFG DR does hook better than the Toyo RA-1's. The difference is, you can't drive them everyday and take a corner with them. The Toyo's hook plenty for the power we have, you're not going to spin the tires.
