Tire size

This came from the Tires, Suspension & brake forum...

I too would really like to know if these particular sizes fit

I have the SL-65 AMG rims on my E55 and these are the same size tires I have. They fit perfectly and there is no rubbing. No gap between the fenders or anything and there is no need to roll the fenders.

THEY FIT.

Thanks for sharing! I know there's a member here that has 295's in the back which he mentions that it clearly is too wide and sticks out abit and is deciding to go not as wide next time. I think he only went with that particular size due to stock availability. I know that 275's are a perfect fit and I do see little next to nothing that there is a bit of room left, but just wasn't 100% sure. If 295's were too wide and 275's fit well, I figured 285's might be just right or fit without any problems. For the fronts I figured the same. I know for sure 245's fit since that's how they come as stock. The front seems like there's just a tad bit of room as well, so I was thinking maybe 255's would fit.

I'm also concerned that different tire companies, make their tires differently, so some might be just ok without problems while others might run into rubbing problems etc. What rubber do you have MB Fanatic? Also, have you lowered your ride? Also, any difference in the ride or handling? do you have any photos?

Yes car is lowered via Star Diagnostics at dealer (nice tech, very into his MBZ's, which is always a great thing). Also I drive with Sport II a lot of the time with Michelin PS2's on all corners of the car.

Ride is nice and smooth (a bit harsh as time progresses with wear on tires, but nothing too bad, still very comfy). Handling is greatly improved with the lowering and larger wheels and tires, car feels much more stable and looks great. The ride is so smooth in Comfort that it feels like its gliding on air almost.

I am going to try some Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position as these PS2's come to the end of their life in a year or two.

Not very helpful on my part since I can not describe how the car handles and feels to well.

I don't think the Bridgestone S-03's come in 255/35/19's and as well I don't think they come in 285/30/19's either...

I am looking at a combo right now and wondering if it would be ok, since I know that 255 fronts and 285 rears work fine.. but would they work with 19x8.5 fronts and 19x9.5 rears ET38mm..
So the tire/rim i wanna get are 5x112, ET38mm 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with 255/35/19 and 285/30/19..

what are the stock ET's?

I would go 9 in front and 10.5 at the rear with those tyres it would look much better...Sizes sound perfect to ME...you get much better handling and steering reponse with 255...I've tried that on my Lorinser rims and M5 as well...

You're right, SO3's don't come in a 255/35/19, but they do come in a 285/30/19.

Here are you tire options for sizes 255/35/19 and 285/30/19:

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
Dunlop SP9000
Michelin PS2 (My choice)
Michelin PS A/S (no way)

There may be more from some other brands like Toyo or Kumho, but I didn't look them up.

What about Pirellies P Zero Rossso or Corsa direziontale and assimetrico...

I have of my S now and best tyres our of all I've had (Dunlop Sp 9000, Mich PS, Yokos AVS 102 -sh*t) and now Pirelli so far more comfy and less noisy tyres out of all...

PS2 I have on my M5, hook up good, especially when they are warm and WET traction OK...

I'd say out all tyres mentioned by Darren go for PS2 as well...

Unfortunately I don't think the Rosso Direzionale or the Assimetrico have the 285/30 for the rears. I don't know about the Corsa, unless that's just another name for the Rosso.

THEY FIT.

What are the actual stock tire size/offset on the SL-65 AMG rims?

Also, as I mentioned a few posts up, Would ET38 be ok for our E55's?

Corsa is not the same as Rosso, It's Pirelli's racing compound tire with a wear rating of 60. I'm getting some to try out..

295/30 PS2 is definitely too wide for a 10" wheel at least on my E55. I have rubbing on the inside of wheel well, and the "wiggle" that has been discussed here ad nauseum. I'm just gonna burn up the 295's & go down to 285. I have heard that a 295 Bridgestone or Pirelli will not rub as it has a slightly narrower sidewall.
