got my license around 1983 or so and spent 2K on a disaster of a 1968 GTO. Thru a connecting rod about 3 months later. Put a Pontiac 400, 4:54 rear gears, and an arrest me porsche red paint job. Used to scour the pontiac parts places from all over the country looking for original parts. Couldn't handle for crap but was great fun power shifting!! Never took it to the track (street racing was the rage back then) but figure it was a high 13 sec. 1/4 car

The first car I bought (with my own money) was a silver 1986 Corolla GTS , twin cam, 16 valve with (believe it or not) limited-slip-differential. Had it tinted all around, lowered it and upgraded to mini-lite wheels. (Didn't have digital camera back then so I don't have any pictures that I can easily post.) Drove it for more than 100K miles, then donated it to the needy. And I still see that car running!

Back then, MB cars was just a car in my "dreams"!

I had so much stereo in the trunk, I think a 4 cylinder 3 series would have beaten me off the line.

That's funny. My E55 shares the garage with my 1986 Corolla GT-S. I love that little car. In fact, I would sell the E55 before I would ever consider selling the Corolla.

No AMG...yet

My first.
1998 Volvo s70, 164HP. 0-60: 10(ish), 4spd Auto, FWD

My second
2000 Audi A4 2.8, 190HP (mod to 200HP) 0-60: 7.0 5spd Manual, FWD

Current
1998 Mercedes CLK 320, 215HP (mod to 225HP) 0-60: 6.8(ish), 5spd Auto, RWD

No AMG yet, but give it the rest of my college education and a couple graduate degrees and we'll see what happens . My parents bought me the Volvo (used) and i've had to pay all the trade up differences. My family isnt super rich or anything, but it still bugs me when people say that families that have money produce nothing but spoiled brats and trust fund babies. I've been working since i was 13. Lawn work, fast food, retail sales, bank teller, etc... People talk so much about how poor people get stereotyped so quickly what about people who have money? Is it any more to assume that someone with money had it just fall into his lap than it is to assume that someone on welfare is there because he's a coke addict? Dont think so...

Oh almost forgot...

Haha, i know this isnt the best place to praise M3s, but i think the E46 looks great in Laguna Seca Blue, kinda like the B5 Audi S4 in Nogaro Blue

I hear ya! I had fun and loved the GT-S. Didn't want to sell it (felt guilty), that's why it was donated. But there are still times that I wished I had kept it!

1989 Toyota Tercel EZ - dyno'd @ 70whp/77wtq
Haa.... you beat me... I have been thinking of starting a thread like this. Just curious how people climb up their lives....

Anyway, here's mine.... 1989 Toyota Tercel EZ:
1.5L 4-cyl
76hp
God knows what's the torque
0-60: yes
1/4 miles: yes
No power steering
No power window
No power brake
No electric seat
No A/C

No nothing.... just go from point A to point B (got my 1st job with it, though ). Bought it for $1K right off from school (6 years ago... no money, nothing).

Like medici78, I somehow sold my 2nd, 3rd bla-bla-bla and kept this one but I sold it 1.5 yrs ago since my wife somehow said it was like a walking trash can

In high school, I was given my parents' 1975 Ford LTD (351 Cleveland) Ugly as sin and rusted out to beat the band. It was white with a dark blue Brougham top! Not much of a looker but pretty powerful for a high-schooler. The thing was so rusted, when I would do the reverse-to-drive tranny drops and spin the tires, the inside would fill up with the choking white/gray smoke. You had to get out after a little bit just to breath, jeez what a schmuck I was in my yoot!

oh, sad! i think they are hot in laguna seca blue...the sidevents...the wheels - ahhh...ok, enough about the m3 - here's my history:

i was the primary driver on the family car when i got my permit:

(minus the weird wheels)

then, i paid a third for this baby - my current car:

so, for my future...
most likely - one of these!

i'll be a mom driving around in style

another nice family car with kicks that i'd like to have someday:

and last, but not least... i'd want to rebuild/refurbish this old classic with my future husband and children (if they like cars)

or one of these

i'm big on family, and i think getting into classic cars would be a neat way to spend time together as a family - especially for fathers and sons to do together - but i'll be mom who's involved some of the time in the car hobby

also would love - m3 - laguna seca blue, some type of porche carrera (i really like the old ones with the round headlight look), some type of sl - might as well go for a 65 :p , and (REALLY big dream) - a mclaren SLR. all big dreams...i would be happy though to have a happy, healthy, involved family and keep my 1998 blue honda civic lx sedan

ha! you felt the need to say it was a half year car! not a mustang or a camaro but a half year escort. they must have put the blower on that half year! j/k. i may have got you beat in *****holes, my second car, truck, was a 1963 chevy biscayne 3 spped on the tree. AND THIS PIC LOOKS BETTER THAN WHAT I DROVE!!! nothing better than the sound of the tranny SLAMMING out of gear in 3rd redlining at 55mph. a 283 with a 2 barrell good for 7 mpg too!

yeap, those 1985.5 escort is da bomb. it has twin blowers and does 0-60 in 3 second.hehe.... I am smoking too much weed today.

You do have me beat on the *****hole. At least my escort only had faded paint. And my escort was not a bad car, it was reliable and trouble free (i wish i can say that about my mom's taurus at that time).

2004 E55 Black Navi Kleemann Stage 1 & LSD, Brabus Mono VI, pedals and lighted sills, JL sub.
1979 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta. V8 2 barrel. We loved Rush so we called her "Blue Barchetta." Had blue fuzzy seat covers that looked like Cookie Monster's skin and Blaupunkt radio with 6X9's dug into the rear deck. Later put on chrome rims and painted the rotors blue. Sold it to a family friend who put it in a tree shortly afterwards. Looked great with my disco hairdo and two tone jean jacket!

My first car - 1966 Pontiac Tempest Convertible with a Chevy 350 dropped in, three on the tree. LOL at "wish it was a GTO" - I did too! Paid $500 in 1972.

Cadet blue / black top - not red like this one. Funniest habit (well, not at the time) the electric top would not close if it started to rain. The trunk was so big you could lie down in it.

Too many neutral drops ... ended up at AAMCO

61 Buick Special

Great thread!. I've really enjoyed checking out everyone's first ride. I remember my first car vividly. I was the only 14 year old that had a car and couldn't drive yet. What a bummer. My Grand Dad couldn't drive anymore and had an old beater that he gave to me to drive when I turned 15.

It was a 61 Buick Special. Very unique vehicle. It was GM's first foray into the world of compact cars. Very similar to several other GM cars such as the Tempest.

GM put a small displacement aluminum block V8 into it with a 2 speed automatic. It actually was a pretty good performer for the day. The engine had a very interesting history. They used it for years in the GM line then sold it to British Leyland who put it into TR8s. Later BL was bought by Rover group and it was placed into Rovers for years.

My brother had a Land Rover Discovery until earlier this year and I happened to check out the motor and found my familiar aluminum block GM motor which had been updated with fuel injection. Pretty cool, a GM motor that hung around almost as long as the Chevy small block.

BTW this was years before anyone else had tried to use aluminum blocks as far as I know. It wasn't without problems tho because they used iron heads and expanded at different rates so head gaskets were hard to keep sealed. Obviously they worked out the problems. :p

07 ML63; 05 E55 (sold)
1972 Cutlass Coupe age 16, bought with 96k miles for 2 grand.
Painted metallic brown with beige racing stripes on hood and trunk
Chrome Cragars and air shocks!
oops almost forgot the running lights from Western Auto that I installed inside each rear wheel!

Went from that to an '84 Plymouth Champ. The inside of the winshield used to ice up instantly when you started it up in the winter....I kept an old pair of underwear in the glove box (donated from my ice hockey equipment bag) and used those to rub off the ice from the inside of the winshield.

Man I've come a long way.
