MAF Question
I just had my 99 E55 stall a couple times and then have the engine be pretty unstable and idle rough. I'm fairly sure it's the MAF from what I've read and I'll be picking one up today to install myself. I figure it's a safe bet since I'm at 63k miles on the original MAF. What I need to know is if any ECU reprogramming or other adjustments need to be done along with installation. There shouldn't really need to be, but you never know so if someone who's replaced one could let me know if there's any other tricks, it'd be appreciated.
Also, can any place with a code reader reset the check engine light or does it have to be a dealer? Should the dealer charge for it?

No other changes need to be made after you install MAF. I believe if you install the MAS, then take the positive terminal off of the battery for about 30 seconds it should read that you have a good MAS and reset itself. If not the dealer should assist.

Once you remove battery terminal and reattach that should reset your check engine light if the MAF was truly the culprit.
I had problems with my C43 and its MAF, codes produced were P0170 and P0173 - fuel trim left and right banks, respectively.
Hope this helps.
