How's This Deal: 2005 Loaded E55 11K Miles $77,000

Edit: Its $77,000 not $79,000. I'm getting tired of looking for my car and am about to do this deal. I need a 2004 or newer with less than 12,000 miles. This seems like one of the best deals out there. Thoughts?

I have a 2005 E55 with only 3500 miles on it that I'll sell for $75900.It is silver/charcoal in perfect shape(not a scratch or dent anywhere). The only options it has is the 6 disk changer.BTW it has birds eye wood.My DB9 will be coming in August but I can let the 55 go now.I believe the sticker was around $82,600.I'm located in Tampa,Fl.

Accompli-man....

Weren't you looking at the '04 for a few grand more? Sounds like this is a helluva deal if that is the case, but do remember that the 04 comes with full service for the entire warranty period and the 05 doesn't. This will add up to some green over the next approx 3 (remaining on the 04 model) years.

I own a 04 E55 with everything but distronic and pano-roof. If someone offered me 77k for the car I would take it in a heart beat. that price seems very high given what I paid for the car new. That means I did really well given its year old status.

But my car has 18k miles. Is there a reason you need to have fewer than 12k? Are you looking at the MB exteneded warranty?

I remember you had a smoking deal on your C32 (which you promptly sold for investment reasons if i recall) and this E55 is no where near as good of a deal. A good price would be low 70's to high 60's.

Bad job of trying to sell my car huh?

Should be $110,000. Comes with braggin' rights as the fastest 1/4 mile E55 on record.

The certified 04 with navigation that I found was $81K and change out the door ($3-$6K in negative trade equity, $2K in taxes, tag, kitchen sink). But it had 17000 miles and I found out that my lender needs it to be an 04 or newer and have 12K or less to give me the best terms. There is a certified 03 for $67K that looks great but the terms my lender offers on 2003s make it less than a viable option plus there is no navigation. I'm having a hell of a hard time finding a low mileage 04 with navi at a reasonable price. The perfect car was found but the dealer wouldn't go below $78K on it. So that means my 'out the door' price would be around $84K and it wasn't even certified. Way too high given how many of these are on the market and the impending release of the M5. The search for my E55 is getting extremely frustrating to say the least. Anybody else think that these dealers who pay $65K-$67K for these should be happy to make $5K on the car?

I would give that serious consideration but I have a car to trade in which will save me the sales tax on $30-$33K of my purchase. I'd also really like navigation and the lighting package.

Accompli-man... I still think that deal you are seeing is pretty good. Here is an E55 at the dealer I bought mine from

http://www.park.mercedescenter.com/m...um=4&sortVal=3

It's an 04 with over 13K miles on it, and only the CD changer as an option and no navi, and it's $74K. So the deal you are looking at seems pretty good. And faxon's deal is good in comparison to this ($2K more for a year younger and 10K less miles), albeit without the options you want.

Time to pick one and go forward... You've been procrastinating for a while now.. I lost a nice black one while I was looking because I procrastinated!

Screw that!! the E55s are piling up at the lots. I got mine for sticker out of the door (86K). It has 2000 miles on it and I would have to consider a 79K offer. Come on, for that money,,,,get a new one!

I'm going to either find a deal that I can live with this week (2004 under 12K miles at $82K or less out the door after $3K-$6K negative equity on trade, taxes, etc.) or quit looking for a while. Part of me wants to just throw up my hands and go with pre-owned Camry+pre-owned V8 Lotus Esprit. The dollars would be about the same.

My thoughts exactly, except I want a car with a year of steep depreciation priced in rather than buy new. With supply piling up as it is, dealers are asking WAY too close to new prices on these used, 10K mile cars. The glut of cars on the market is only going to get worse for dealers and better for buyers. The other damn confounding thing is that the dealers with the best deals on E55s are the ones offering me $30K for my FX45. The ones with the not so great deals on the E55s seem willing to give me $33K for it. That abuse on my trade gets me back to square one every time I think I've found a deal that I can live with.

Accompli-man... That's not confounding at all! Usual trade in games - give you a "great deal" on the new car, and not so great deal on the trade, or vice-versa. It all comes out the same to them. I tend to agree supply might grow a bit as this year goes by, but I still come back to the fact that I think the built in service program for 04 and earlier models is worth something pretty decent (must be a few $K over the life of the warranty), and if you wait longer then your financier is going to want an 05 model for sure, and then you'll fork that money out over the next 3+ years for regular services too. But I am not sure exactly how much they are, so just guessing at the amount.

BTW, as much as the Lotus V8 is a beautiful car, never forget what Lotus stands for..... Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious

That perfect 2004 E55 with navigation is located about 3 hours from here. They'd only go to $78K on it before any taxes, tag, negative equity trade, etc. I'm tempted to drive to the dealer and see if I can get them to budge for me. A bird in the hand type of thing. If they'd go to $75K on it, and at least $32K for my trade, I could justify the deal. On the other hand, there is a dealer in Tampa that looks like they sold the same year, color and equipped car for the high 60's. But I have a sneaking hunch that they lower the price in their ads after the car has already sold to get more buyer calls. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense how they can be $10K under everybody else on the same car.

I'm just at odds with the E55 market in general. If people can get me a brand spanking new 2005 for $82,000 (before trade and other costs) then I should get $10,000 off of a one year older, used car with 10,000 miles on it. No ifs ands or buts. It just doesn't add up how these dealers think they can ask only $4,000 less. That might cover the loss in value for the 1 year older model year but then you've got to deduct for used status and 10,000 miles. That *should* get the asking price squarely back to the $72K range. It makes no sense.

Kevin

Accomplice, is that price out the door, or before neg. equity, tt&l, etc.?
If so, thats pretty sweet.
faxon's deal is very good. Also, remember you can always add navigation later on for around $2k (call MBenzNL for exact pricing) with all OEM M-B parts.

Okay, here is the deal I was offered:
2004 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG
Ext. Tectite Grey with Charcoal Leather int.
Navigation
Front Ventilating Seats
6 Disc CD Changer
Vehicle is 1 Owner and a Non smoker
8,000 miles on it

They're taking my trade that I owe $35.6K on (other dealers trade valued it at $30-$33K), with that factored in along with sales tax and tag its $82,900 out the door. This is a non-certified car with the factory warranty. Thoughts?

How much are they giving you for the trade? How much is the car before your trade?

They said that they had $75K into the E55 and wanted to make $5K on the car. I'd bet that they have more like $70K in it though. KBB trade value on my car is around $33K and I owe $35,557 on it. Other dealers said my car would sell for as little as $30K at auction. So depending on how you look at it they're absorbing $3,000-$5,500 in negative equity and what around $2,000(?) in sales tax plus tag transfer ($100?) into the deal.

Since I found out that I owe a little less than I quoted them on my trade the 'out the door' price will drop to $82,358. Back out $2,100 in taxes & tag and $3,000 in negative equity and their selling me the car at $77258. If the negative equity is actually $5,500 on my trade then they're selling the E55 to me at $74,758.

Just for point of reference...I bought my E55 in May 2004 with every option except parktronic and distronic. The car had 440 miles, came with 12 additional months Starmark warranty on it and I paid $83k.

If they won't lower the price then ask them to throw in 12 additional months of Starmark and you'll do the deal.

Have fun,

Darren

Darren,

Thanks for the feedback. The car is at a Porsche dealer not MB, not sure what they'd have to pay to certfiy the car via MB if even possible, $1,200+?

I just searched yahoo autos for your area (jacksonville beach, fl) and found an E55 for sale ($66,900) with nav.

Here's the link (I hope it works for you):
