M5 faster than SRT10 Viper
OK so there are many people waiting for the M5 to hit US strips. Quite hard to predict what the M5 will hit based on Euro tests. They always test will full tank, passenger, etc. Added to that their test venues are normally airfields which are unprepped & have poor traction. But the M5 appears to be faster than the E55 if the cars are tested at the same place. But here's some more revealing info, M5 is faster than new SRT10 Viper to 100mph & back down to 0:
Now, just so the armchair experts can predict perfromance on US shores, here's MotorTrend's test of the SRT10:

1/4 mile in 11.77 @ 123.63.
To prove that its not a once off, here's 2 tests of 2 different SRT10's against 2 different M6's (M6 is mechanically the same as the M5 ut weighs 98lbs less).
And here's the M5 again against a Ferrari 575:
So I have said this before, but I predict the US mags will get the M5 in the 11.8-11.9 on the 1/4 stock standard running pump fuel with no prep. Trap I predict will be 121.
But hey, what do I know?

If you look at the first bar graph...The M5 is slower to a 100, but is much quicker to stop back to 0...Almost 1/2 a second slower to 0.
The Viper is a very difficult car to bring to a stop. The car is very front heavy, and puts a lot of weight over the front axle.
But that's a good effort by the M5...The times are looking good, and I'm sure will even get better...4.69 to 60 is one of the slower times I've seen for the car.

Yes, the Viper is faster than the M5 both to 60 and 100.

Yeah DRCrowder it is kinda' boring when someone presents the facts instead of blabbering "Hell that car's slow, I beta that time at my local strip."
ANd I like how you guys sidestech SPort AUto & Auto Bild that got got the M6 faster than the Viper. The AUtocar test did get the Viper 1 tenth faster to 100mph. But the gearing f the M5 will make it faster after 100. Point is they should run similar 1/4 mile times.

Thanks for the information. I often wonder what goes through the minds of people that sit around waiting to post stuff on "other" boards that can only be intended to try to **** people off. Not that this pisses me off at all. I've already spoken my piece about what I think about magazine times. I mean, if we sat around waiting to post on M5Board every time an M5 blows up in some embarrasing way (the Ring Taxi, Jeremy Clarkson, and other owners), I guess at least the post would relate to the car that the Board was created for in the first instance.

Dude, do a search on your posts, you are only ever an antagonist and it bores me. I just talked to a guy yesterday about buying my E55 when I get my M6 (first on list @ Don Rosen[now mainline] in bala cynwyd PA) so I'm on board with they are great cars.

I don't know why everyone's getting their panties in a knot. I bet if the info was that the M5 is slow, everyone would be high-fiving. The reason I posted is someone posted the Australian test & everyone jumps & up & down & says the M5 is slow. WTF?
I thought you guys would be interested in info on an upcoming competitor. But if you want to keep patting each other on the back, then go ahead.

go check out the C32/55 section, there is a nice videobut I am guessing you prob would have seen it already but I just wanted to make sure you troll in the right forums
