I Love This Car

I had to take my car for service and got a loaner for a few days. The parts took longer than expected so I had to drive a C240 for a bit more than a week. The C isn't too bad but I was miserable. Seats are not confortable. No acceleration. And worse it had the faint smell of cigarettes.

I got my car back today, got in, smelled the leather, punched the gas and was back in love. It is FINE. My 18 year old daughter squeeled "it is soooo choice". It's like I got a new car.

If you think you don't like your car, borrow something else for a week or two. Absence definitely makes my heart grow fonder.

The E55 does so many things great that I really don't mind the warts that come from time to time.

When I'm outta town and drive rental cars for a week or 2 and come home, all I can think about is how much better I'll feel when I finally get to drive the beast again.

Being out of town once or twice a month and being in a Hertz rental car for up to a week I can understand 100% what you are saying. I am currently in Atlanta driving a Town Car and miss the heck out of the BEAST.

You then realize what a awesome car our E55 is

While my wife is out of town for the week, I've been shuttling the kids around in the mini-van. No choice, I'm not letting either one of them in MY car after trips to the pool or ice cream shop! I can't wait to take the beast out again.

(I did find time the first part of the week to wash and wax it )

Hey Mr. Wolf,

We need to come up with some kind of nickname for the E55 wagon. In German "Beast Wagon" is "Tierlastwagen", but that just doesn't sound catchy enough.

Personally, I am counting the hours until I reach 1,000 miles -- I'm beginning to fantasize about what WOT is going to be like...

BTW -- are your wheels stock or are you running the AMG 19" 2-piece wheels -- can't quite tell from the photo...

With all these unhappy E55 owners, I'd like to report in as another satisfied E55 owner with no problems to report other than a minor thing here and there.

Best overall car I've ever owned!

I just replaced my rear tires and went to a 275 PS2 and whoa nellie, it got even better. I'm so glad you get 15k miles out of a set, then you get brand new ones once a year!

You summed it up perfectly! I feel exactly the same way after driving ANY other car, be it C-Class loaner , Hertz-hire or one of my own kids' BMW or VW. All those jaded E55 drivers with a "seven-month-itch" should try this remedy once in a while and see how the other 99.99% of the motoring public lives!

Yes, that's the one! I got PS2 275's too. Their grip is phenomenal, I recon close to 0.95 lateral G's. (Conti2 0.84 G's)
Last week I put on some used Pirelli P-Zero Rosso on my track set and got a fright of my life. Not progressive at all. Its a light-switch loss of traction. straight or around corners, quicker than ESP can react - that scares me!
On straight line acceleration, the ESP light never switches off. They are coming off before the next track day and Dunlop Street Legal Race tires are going on.
I honestly don't know what is AMG thinking when they put this crap tire on CLS55! Maybe they will sell more cars (to the insurance companies...)
