A good time to buy an E55?

I was wondering...with AMG63 engines coming out soon....and that the 06 E55 AMG should be the last generations of forced induction engines..

Is it a good time to get an 03 or 04 E55 AMG??

an 03 for the low sixties
an 04 for high sixties?

Feedback greatly appreciated

It is always a good time to buy an E55. And you will almost always lose money when you sell it!

Your prices seem a little low, but I may be comparing to Starmarked cars.

Prices seem a little low, but close. The nice '03s I've seen tend to run in the mid-high $60s and most '04s I've seen that weren't "buy-back" cars tend to run in the low $70k range. Good luck!

It is interesting to see how many buy-back cars there are for sale. It takes a long time to sell those. Who would want to mess arount with one? They seem nice on the surface then you read the fine print. If it is too good to be true...

Yeah, I went nuts when a friend sent me a link to a fully loaded '04 one thinking I had overpaid for my minimally optioned car. When I read the fine print I was so relieved, lol. I've noticed that a most of the buyback cars I've seen are bought back because of issues with the Keyless go and the rest for seemingly minor electrical issues.

are buyback cars a problem as a rule? I mean they still usually have the mb warranty, right...?

I would say they are a problem in terms of resale value. I have no experience, but if they were deemed "OK" to sell by Mercedes-Benz, then I imagine they would be a good buy for those willing to overlook that blemish on the CARFAX. Personally, I wouldnt take the chance in case it is an issue that might pop up again. Sure its under warranty, but you would deal with a lot of downtime while it's in the shop.

If you do the performance upgrades, I wouldnt expect to be "whooped" by an E63.
