"The only products AMG are developing a Performance pack for currently are
the CLS and SLK, although they have yet to confirm availability and pricing
for these vehicles. We are not aware of any plans for the E55 and feel it
would be unlikely.
The E55 doesn't have limited slip differential and it is not available to
specify. We would however stress that our traction control systems are
extremely sophisticated and that we do not receive complaints of the
driving or handling of this vehicle, which is excellent!
With regards to the engine it should be due for replacement some time in
2006 although details are not yet certain."
This from MB Head office.... when asked if a performance pack is available for E55, whether you could spec a LSD, and when new motor is due.
Pretty much in line with concensus thus far, although I think the perf packs would be developed for the E63 when it debuts...

"No complaints about the handling"... LOL It's the one constant complaint in EVERY review ever written on the car! If you haven't seen it I posted an e-mail I received from Rob Allen at AMG about the 030 package. Do a search to read it.
