My Beast is at the Port ...

Just spoke to the salesman. My 2006 E55 is finally at the port in Baltimore. It's being prepped for delivery to NJ.

One small (hopefully) glitch ... apparently Sirius radio used to be installed at the port upon arrival. Now it has to be installed at the factory in Germany.

Because of the changeover to the new model year, this was overlooked at the factory. So they will have to install it at the dealership once the car arrives. Also, all of the satellite antennas they get are now black. They're going to see if they can paint it match my car (platinum blue). Minor detail, but annoying, nonetheless.

I was hoping to have my car at the end of this week. Now it looks like it will be end of next week.

**** ... I haven't been this excited/frustrated waiting for something for a long time. Guess it means I'm still alive

Hang in there a little longer. Anticipation is the best part. Hope you don't repeat my experience. My Sirius was installed at the dealer and their go to tech guy had recently left. The remaining dudes took 3 days to get it working, and only after calling the guy that had left.

The closest town of any size is probably Easton, PA, about 15 miles west of us.

I keep trying to convince myself that anticipation is the best part .... but I don't believe it.

As far as further delays, I'm old enough to know that "nothing is easy" & I fully expect another delay to rear its head before I get my hands on the beast.

For me it won't be much of a change, since I'm currently driving a 1994 Volvo with 217,000 miles. I suspect I'll hardly notice the difference

You can be certain I'll be posting photos.

Good Lord! You're probably going to end up sleeping the car the first few nights, hehe.

Hey Hook,

You haven't gotten the car yet and you're already getting your mods in order?
Don't forget to get a base dyno for reference before the performance mods.

From right now, to the point you get the car, will be the longest time in your life.
And when you drive the car, it'll be the shortest.

Oh, yeah, I'm thinking about mods, already. I'll start slowly, but ...

I am setting up an appointment for mid September at AI Design (NY) to have the remote radar installation (display etched into rv mirror) & a hands-free phone install.

Think I'll see if they can do a baseline dyno then, also.

One small (hopefully) :
Make sure that they "Compensate" you for their little glitch. I am sure that they will, it sucks that you may have to ask, but oh well, customer service should be the main priority.

Congrats on your purchase can't wait to see the pics

Don't forget to ask for wheel locks, touch-up paint, and for the dog...the rear seat covers, or whatever else that might be useful. Keep asking for stuff until your sales guy says uncle. Since you are probably paying list, he has room in the deal to give you the birddog.
