Is it just me, or is there a real technology aversion here? Not knocking the application of a turbo to a good engine, but I really want to wait and see what a great N/A engine and transmission combo can do. =)

A C63 ?? Holy cow ... that will run low 4's (if not sub 4) in 0-60 for sure ... kinda makes we wonder what they will have in store for the E63 ... cannot believe they will wack that amount of power in the C and the same for the E ... the E will be slower for sure ... think C63 is OTT ... blimey where will it end ... that would mean they would need to use 6.0TT for the E - think not -that will be for the S & CL 's.
Personally think we see the E63 (6.3 N/A) in the W211 facelift unit for 2007, and new W212 with same motor. C may get detuned 6.3 - but OMG that will be one quick car...
Poor trannies ... they going to get roasted....!!!!

I read an article recently about SAE HP ratings. GM is one of the few automakers who is doing SAE certified HP, which is a more accurate method of rating their engines. Apparently, when they tested the new LS7 (in the Z06), they found that it made 505hp, not the 500hp that GM originally claimed.
Another interesting tidbit regarding HP ratings was in the latest MT, where they tested the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 against the uber-wagon, the E55T.

That number? How does 467.3hp at 6000 rpm (and still climbing) sound? It sounds like the Hemi was underrated. Max torque on the same run was 458.0 at 4000rpm.
Rather than attempt to build an original Hemi and test it under the current, more restrictive SAE standard to see how their 21st century version stacked up, the SRT guys dyno tested the new motor using the old J606 rules. Drum roll, please: The result? 467hp at 6000rpm. How's that for history repeating itself?

I don't think you can compare the new Z06 to anything made by Mercedes-Benz AMG, except to say that each car is the pinnacle of performance in their respective categories.

AMG will not be second to BMW
Based on past history I emphatically believe AMG will not roll over to the stressed out V10 from BMW. "Radically new 6.3 Liter V8", "Bi-Turbo", whatever their next move is, it will upstage the Bangle lovers beloved M cars. I am convinced enough to put a cash deposit down on AMG's next move!
