How much trouble should I expect?

My 2006 E55 will be delivered in October. I hear that people have continual problems with small stuff during the first few months of ownership. Is there any realistic chance that I won't have issues with my new car?

Anyone have a positive new ownership experience?

Wish I could tell ya I didn't have any problems,but I did...

I had to bring the car back 2 days later due to a severe shaking thru the steering wheel when using the brakes. The car basically wobbled very badly whenever you touched the brakes.Their answer to the problem was that the rotors were warped "from being on the boat so long while it was shipped from Germany. The humidity in the air caused the brake pads&calipers to stick to the rotors, causing them to have a high-spot where the pads rusted to the metal"....
They took the rotors, calipers&pads off another 2005 E55 that came in the same day&swapped them onto my car.The brakes work fine now, although I still have a very very slight shimmy in the front end while driving. They re-balanced all 4 wheels.Twice.It's better, but not 100%....I still have to bring it back

With under 5000mi I got an airbag warning. They replaced a clock spring in the steering column. Took half a day. No problems since.

Thumbs up

Only problem in 11k miles was one xenon headlamp that wouldnt self level in the first week of ownership. Replaced in a few hours....since then, zero issues.

I cant ever see myself not driving an AMG for the rest of my life.

I only lost my entire braking system when I first got my car. You shouldn't have any problems. I honestly haven't had any problems since then and that's was a recall that wasn't taken care of. Good luck. You'll love the car.

Took delivery of my '05 in April. Had my first problem today - "refill washer fluid".

Seriously, I have had exactly ZERO problems since purchase. Am I an exception??

Hi Moses

In the first 14 months of ownership I have had ZERO problems other than the car stalling a couple of times in the first two weeks when I reversed out the garage.

Other than that it has exceeded all my expectations in terms of reliability and customer satisfaction.

Received my car the first of April. I have had absolutely no problems and I am a very picky person. I would know immediately if there were any problems. Expect the best and you should get it.

You may experience difficulties turning off the engine, exiting the vehicle, and wiping the smile off your face.

That's the problem I have with my 23 year old 911! It's exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks to all for the replies.

You take care of this E55 like you have that 911 and you will be one happy *******!!

No gimicks here. You got displacement and forced induction.

Did you just keep that 911 nice, or did you restore it?

Its been 13 mos and no problems other than vibration on the steering wheel at high speeds but seemed to have disappeared after replacing those damm Conti's with PS2s.

4 wheels
No major problems considered as a safety issue. Car drive like a charm and SBC works as designed after the upgrade. Just smoke the stock tires for fun and show off lol. Then get some PS2's.

I have 1800 miles on my 06 and haven't had any problems yet. If you didn't order Sirius, your car won't be prewired for it thus your dealer won't be able to install it for you. I'm not aware of any aftermarket alternatives that will give sound as good as factory and it wouldn't be able to integrate with the Command. Any car produced after 5/31/05 IS NOT prewired for Sirius!

Your Porsche looks magnificent! 23 years, WOW!. At least it gets fresh air - your E55 will stink of cat **** every morning after using the aircon the night before! You will get to know your MBZ technical rep intimately....
Otherwise, you will love the Beast more than your first born!
